Popped out here this evening for a quick drink and dinner. Its a bit off the beaten track, but neverthless a delight. Had a pint of excellent Black Sheep, and started with some mushrooms in a creamy garlic sauce, tasty indeed, personal preference would be for a bit more garlic, and less sauce, but I’m picking at straws. Main of Lamb Henry was superb, meat very tender, with a delicious gravy, and served with a dauphinoise potato stack and three vegetables. Mint sauce requested and supplied promptly There was a nice warm friendly atmosphere, even though the pub wasnt too busy. Service was prompt and efficient from the young lady who served me. Theres also a small gift shop adjoining the pub

The ride out to Sicklinghall is a pleasure in itself; having The Scotts Arms as a destination is the icing on the cake. The pub is unmissable, being on the main street through this attractive village. The pub is made up from a row of cottages knocked through and has plenty of Old English charm with open fires and exposed wood beams. There’s always a good choice of beers at the bar: WharfeBank’s Tether Blonde was my lucky choice on this visit. For my main course I had my old favorite Steak and ale pie; it’s always filling and the taste never disappoints. My partner bravely chose the salmon and was very satisfied with her choice, telling me more than once that it had been cooked perfectly. She seemed to score a success with her choice of desert too. She told me their Eton Mess was the best she’d had in ages. I won’t say what I had because it makes me sound like a very pedestrian diner, but it was delicious and I’d order the same meal again and again. It’s a great meal in a great pub in a great location.
