The Tree Garden is a small, family run nursery located in the village of Birling, near West Malling, Kent. We specialise in native & unusual, but hardy & easy-​to-​grow, trees, shrubs & perennials.

Our plants are suitable for patios & small courtyards, to gardens & fields & paddocks. We have a selection of fruit & nut trees, native willows & oaks, potted Christmas trees & larches, evergreen & hedging plants, & a wealth of assorted large & small flowering shrubs to suit all areas & tastes.

For those with little time or expertise, experienced advice & help is freely given, & we welcome both novice & experienced gardeners.

As we run the nursery from home, we are open 7 days a week, & browsers are always welcome, but by appointment to ensure we are available… please call to arrange a convenient time.

History

Established in 1997.

As avid gardeners, we were always loathe to dispose of plants to the bin or bonfire when they outlived their space in the garden. They were potted up & given to friends & neighbours.

When they had all filled up their gardens, the next step was to sell some plants to pay for new & different plants. And the business has «grown» from there!

Although now a full-​time occupation, the joy of growing plants from seeds & cuttings is still our driving force, & many of our stock for sale can be seen in various stages of growth around the garden.

Business Owner

Sue has been an avid gardener since early childhood, following a family tradition. She is keen to help anyone either with no particular skill in the garden, or discuss details with experienced gardeners, & is always pleased to hear from past customers that their purchases are growing well, even with little or no aftercare! Many of the Tree Garden’s plants thrive on neglect, showing that just about anyone can enjoy their garden with little or no effort.

After all, a garden is to enjoy!
