Lynda Norton is a qualified, registered Jungian analyst and psychoanalytic psychotherapist with more than twenty years clinical experience. She is currently a Senior Member of the Jungians within the BPF and is accredited by both UKCP & BPC.

Lynda is committed to providing Jungian analysis and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment with the aim of enabling you to get to know yourself better, to explore issues that grip you and to live your life more fully.

She offers psychotherapy on a once a week or more frequent basis. Where significant change is needed more frequent sessions of psychotherapy or Jungian analysis may be helpful and appropriate. She also offers time-limited counselling on a once per week basis where appropriate and desired.

Lynda’s areas of expertise include anxiety; depression, loss and bereavement; meaninglessness and loss of purpose in life; sexual and relationship difficulties; stress, trauma, exhaustion and burnout: emotional, sexual and physical abuse: mid life crisis; panic attacks, blocked creativity, anger issues; and psychosomatic illnesses.

She is based in Welwyn Garden City, ideally placed for Welwyn, Hertford and Hatfield and within easy reach of Brookmans Park, Potters bar, St. Albans, Wheathampstead, Knebworth, Stevenage and Ware. People seeking a Jungian analyst also travel from further afield: — Bishops Stortford, Harlow, Waltham Cross, Enfield, Boreham Wood, Luton, Hitchin and Baldock.

History

Established in 2001.

Lynda Norton has more than twenty years clinical experience initially as a psychodynamic counsellor in the voluntary sector, as an honorary psychoanalytic psychotherapist within the NHS and later after further intensive training, as a psychotherapist and Jungian Analyst in private practice. She moved into full-time private practice following qualification as a Jungian Analyst in 2001; and opened her business — Lynda Norton: Psychotherapy and Jungian Analysis in Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, and Hertford — at that time.

As a Jungian analyst Lynda has a thorough grounding in psychoanalytic psychotherapy as well as a particular interest in the psychological development that occurs through relationships; the creativity and potential meaning expressed by dreams and symptoms; and the interplay of unconscious processes. The process of Jungian analysis can bring about deep change and a shift towards health; Jung called this journey of self discovery, ‘Individuation’

Business Owner

i work with individuals from all walks of life and a wide range of cultural, ethnic, family backgrounds and personal circumstances. Some people seek the help of a psychotherapist because they feel isolated and feel there is nowhere else to turn. Others prefer to turn to the support of a professional because they worry about burdening loved ones or they need a private space to begin to make sense of their problems and themselves.

People come to see me for a variety of reasons: —

— feeling stuck at a crossroads in life

— struggling with internal conflicts e.g. critical inner commentaries about self /others

— recognising repeating patterns e.g. troubling relationships; self-defeating ways of living

— a deepening sense of lack of meaning e.g. depression

— struggling with significant life changes and /or stress e.g. parenthood, bereavement

— wanting to tackle a symptom, problem or experience that can no longer be ignored

— curiosity, wanting to undertake a journey of self discovery
