It’s a standard weathers watering hole, but it is not very clean. The ales are usually good, but they do insist on using that stupid sparkler thing.

Great pub for a quiet drink on a weekday. Gets quite busy on a weekend, but great for a pre night out drink. Food and staff are both excellent.

The New Cross Turnpike is located on Welling High Street next to Iceland. I have never been in at night time, but it is fairly busy in the daytime. As the original reviewer mentioned, the carpets are sticky, but overall it is clean and the staff are friendly. The food is the same as you get in all Wetherspoons pubs and is tasty enough. They do special curry and steak days so you can get a good meal for a cheap price.

The New Cross Turnpike(or the Turnpike as most people simply refer to it as) is a Wetherspoons in Welling. It is a nice place to have a drink and is although the pub looks quite small from the outside, it goes back quite far. It also has an upper floor which increases the capacity. It also allows for people watching down on the street below. There isn’t any music in this Spoons which I quite like as it allows you to be able to hear the person sitting opposite for you. The service is quick enough and the locals tend to keep themselves to themselves. There aren’t any clubs nearby and so if you’re wish to move onto somewhere after then it might be an idea to book a cab in advance to take you elsewhere. Buses stop outside the pub which can take you to clubs in Dartford. If you are driving then parking is available outside the pub in the street.

the new cross turnpike is yet again, a typical example of a wetherspoons pub– cheap(don’t get me wrong, they have some good beers to offer!). the trouble is very often the floor is sticky, especially at night. the staff sort of know what they are doing, they can serve drinks, but not very well– i have experienced a bitter that was poured too quickly, a no-no in the pub game! the other thing is the air con– it seems that at the end of night they want to go out, so they switch on the air con full blast to get rid of the customers, charming! i wouldn’t really recommend this pub, unless you plan on just the occasional pint
