Mojo Bar & Tapas

My wife and I visited for the second time and were very disapointed. Our first visit about 12 months ago had been ok.
The food was bland and poorly presented, we will not visit again, an exspensive mistake.
The wine was corked (they did replace it).
8 tapas in total, spare ribs (in a disgusting brown sauce), prawns in a strange clear liquid with sliced mushrooms, potato in tomato sauce (ok), deep fried squid (ok), spicy chicken wings (strange taste — horrible!), bread with spicy dipping sauce (ok), chicken croquettes (dry and disgusting), spicey pork meatballs (not spicey, dry and bland).
All this for £51.00!
Would be acceptable for good food, but not for this rubbish.

my daughter and i went for lunch today, we’ve been before and have always found it very nice, UNTILL TODAY, im sorry to say that we wo’nt be visiting again, the whole place was dirty food all over the floor, and the tables were dirty and sticky, what made it worse was that somebody had set the tables on top of the filth, the food was over cooked and bland .the toilets had obviously not been cleaned. maybe it was just an off day? but we won’t be risking visiting again.

Extensive Tapas menu and not too pricey.
I am reviewing this from a vegan perspective, though, so a majority of the menu is not applicable so I cannot comment on it.
However, there is a fair range of menu items that are vegan suitable (much more than most restaurants, especially in Warrington). There were also plenty of menu items that could be ‘veganized’ upon request.
The food was delicious and I certainly ate more than I should have!
The really great thing about this place, for me anyway, was the service. Our waiter was very accomodating of my strange requests of vegan foods that couldn’t be spicy or contain a host of other things that does my IBS no good. He (and the chefs, of course) went the extra mile (s) to make sure that I had a decent meal and an enjoyable time, which meant alot to me.
Aswell as dining here, I have worked as a photographer for a local soul singer. Again, I found the staff very polite and conscientious, trying not to walk infront of me when I was about to take a shot. I, of course, told them not to worry about that.
After dining closes (at around 10pm, I think), the bar stays open and the place turns into a bar lounge of sorts. Although this is not my usual ‘night out’ choice, I have to say that the atmosphere was most pleasant. Everyone just out for a good time and not even the threat of any trouble (which is unusual for Warrington). The aforementioned soul singer, by the name of Sebastian, has a regular slot at Mojo’s. He performs during the latter hours of dining and stays until around midnight. He is always very well received and adds a great vibe to the place, as you would expect a chilled out soul singer to!

I’m afraid that after my visit last night I’ve had to add comments to my review.
We took friends on my recommendation for a chilled out meal after a long weekend away expecting a nice chilled out eating experience.
I like the idea of tapas because you spend an hour or so eating nibbles as and when they come out. We ordered 13 dishes between for of us expecting them to come out a few at a time when there where ready, nibble, nut, olive first then some of the quicker meals then the rest. Expecting to wait only a few minutes for the first dishes butting us on till some of the others came out.
This didn’t happen. the Restaurant was only at about 20% capacity and we gave our order and waited at least an hour for the food which all came out together with temperature varying from cold to just warm. I think the chef had been making them as and when and the serving staff fetched them all out when the last one was done. We complained about the cold dishes and was told they’d be replaced. 20 minutes after finishing the other dishes the replacements had not arrived. I told the waiter to forget it.
I was thinking maybe they just messed up that night but looking at some other reviews it seems like a trend.
None of the food I had was particularly nice. All just basic stuff not that well done.
I really do not think I’l be returning. God knows what it’d be like on a busy night. I dread to think.
PREVIOUS REVIEW
This place was on my hit list for a while but didn’t manage to get there. Then a few weeks ago I managed to get there 3 times in a week.
I’m afraid that they mainly ended in a champagne haze of merryment so I can’t really coment on the finer details or even the cost situation.
I do know that I enjoyed each visit and the food, atmosphere and bubbly was good.
It did empty my pockets of all the cash I took each time.
Next time I go I shall try to be more restrained.
It’s a good place to go for a celebration and on the Friday we went it had good music playing and a party atmosphere.

Excellent! This is a very modern and swanky restaurant, with low lighting, and comfortable seating situated around a bar in the centre of the room. I’d say that this would be a great place to go on a date, although there were also a number of groups when we went. The menu is as modern as the décor, and I chose chicken and choriso salad, then Thai noodles as my main, whilst my boyfriend chose steak and chips. The salad was very good, with the flavours of the chicken and chorizo setting each other off nicely, although there was a little bit too much rocket for my personal liking. My main course was very well presented and would have been really nice but it was a bit spicy for my liking — a disappointment as I’d asked the waiter if it was spicy and he’d assured me that it was not. However, overall, I was very happy with the service and the food, and the lovely atmosphere and surroundings made it a nice evening.

Mojos
It was the first time I’d been to Mojos, as every time I’d passed it alswyas seemed to dark to see in, so had no idea what it was like. We went here for our Christmas lunch so my comments are based on the fact there was a large group of us and some other diners in there. When we first arrvied I was surprised by how small the place Is, theres a small area with sofas for relaxing and drinking, and theres a larger area for the dining with the bar in the middle. I don’t know if its because it was lunchtime but the service was quite poor, only one person behind the bar, and then we had to wait ages to be seated despite having booked for a specific time. We finally sat down and received our starters 30 mins later, the prawn cocktail that I had was presented in a large martini glass and was composed of mainly lettuce with some sliced cherry tomatoes and cucumber. The prawns and marie rose sauce tasted ok, but there wasn’t enough of them and when I dug into the lettuce, I was appalled to see a hair that wasn’t my own. Feeling put off the rest of it, I treid the slices of brown bread that had accompanied the prawns only to see they were practically curling up with dryness. A short time later we were still waiting for the main courses, they didn’t seem to be rushing to clear tables or to fetch food out, yet they had had plenty of notice with our food orders. My main course was salmon with seasonal veg and garlic courgettes, with a wine sauce. The sauce itself was lovely, although in preference I’d rather have it to pour over and not already on the plate. The food looked well presented but there was some of it that I had trouble identifiyng, one veg dish was a diced carrot mixed with something white and mashed, the whole effect was lumpy and certainly not appetising. The fish was ok but a bit dry however the large cluster of bones was enough to put me off further eating. I would try it again but next time just as a casual lunch wtith a couple of people as opposed to an office full to see its any better!
