I’ve been to Hilal a few times and had takeaway. The quality of the curries is really good and the starters are delicious. The interior is good, clean and basic and you’re always greeted with a smiling face. The staff are knowledgeable and happy to make recommendations.

Since they’ve moved from the Victoria Buildings I can honestly say that the hilal has never lost its quality. Its only in a very small premises now which is a shame because some of the ambience is lost, and there are more restaurants in the village now, but the food and prices remain good value & quality. its always a winner in my opinion. The MAJOR letdown is that they don’t have any high chairs so if you have young kids then its not going to be often that you get to go there. However if you have very young kids its not that likely that you’ll be visiting an indian restaurant(and indeed it may be a play to discourage people with kids from going) so it might not be a problem. There’s parking immediately behind the restaurant so that’s never a problem. They’ll also do your food for takeout too — but not delivery.
