I was really looking forward to a birthday visit for a meal here but was HUGELY disappointed, the atnosphere was chaotic and although we were told we would have a bit of a wait when we asked about the timescale staff actually ignored us and were rude. We left after an hour with no food, no service and feeling extremely angry.

Nice food, nice service — friendly. I went for a steak burger, it was lovely. A good thick burger, crunchy water(letuce), tomatoes and nicely toasted bun with chips and relish dip. Very filling. Do recommend.

Great service and atmosphere. Also a great range of ciders. The people that it attracts — families as well as groups of adults — are responsible drinkers/diners there for a pleasant, sociable time and respect others. I would definitely recommend the place.

I really enjoyed the coziness of this place, as well as the beer I’d never heard of but liked quite a bit. On our last night in the area, we decided to have traditional British food and settled on fish & chips. The menu has two different orders of it and the primary differences between the two are 1) the type of fish and 2) the size of the portion. When you’re ready to order, you go to the bar to place your order and pay in advance. This is where one of my co-workers spotted Crabbie’s…an alcoholic ginger beer. It was refreshing and almost a little too sweet after a while. I wouldn’t hesitate to order it again and give it another chance. Perhaps it wasn’t a good match with the fish & chips, but it was different. You can read about it here: This is a restaurant I’ll gladly return to when in the area.

Decided to try something new today… been heavily leaning to Lumbini’s and Riverside, and wanted to branch out. Atmosphere is definitely quintessential British pub with reasonable food. The extensive menu includes traditional English fare(with Sunday Roast) as well as Indian and Thai cusisine. I was impressed that there was a reasonable attempt at vegitarian fare, which is rare for British pubs. Good service, but very slow. It’s not going to be on the top of my iist for repeat dining, but once in a while, if I’m switching it up, it’s a good place.

A pub with water flowing past on both sides. That’s something. One side is the Grand Canal, where you can watch the canal boats chug by, while the other side is reserved solely for the ducks and other guys with bills. The pub itself is big, clean and comfortable, with plenty of separate spaces inside and a good outside area. The music choices are consistent in their calmness instead of style; Hammerstein followed by Ray Davies, Al Green by R.E.M. They take their food seriously and have attractive vegetarian entrees, like the havarti(fish) and chips. There’s a full wine list.

This pub is lovely and homely. It is part of the Chef and Brewer chain but it doesn’t feel like a chain pub. It is right by the canal and has a lovely beer garden to sit in during the summer with tables out to the front. Inside it is quite atmospheric, a bit dark sometimes to eat your food but I like it. The prices are reasonable for drinks. I tend to come here more often for food as the Sunday lunches are great and they also do a fantastic sausage and mash! They now have table service for eating rather than having to order at the bar but it still has the great atmosphere of a local pub rather than a restaurante! Recommended!

My wife and i love the swan & bottle, it is the best bar/restaurant in uxbridge. The food and atmosphere are excellent, and the landlady is lovely and always makes us feel welcome!

As there are offices nearby, this Chef and Brewer pub is a favourite for fast lunches and after work drinks. It has a good beer grden out the front and a nice warm atmosphere inside, There is a good choice of food on the menu, with a good offer on specials every day. This attracts a grown up crowd, so no worries of youngsters getting drunk and spoiling a good sociable chat, meal and drinks.
