The food here is amazing. I loved all the ribs(we had the top four platter). We ordered a super food salad for the side, which turned out to be hot and a perfect accompaniment. However, the service was awful. We had to ask three times for tap water, which we received after our second cocktail after we had completed our main. The cocktails were slow to arrive, but we were told there was a new barman in training. When we finished our main we weren’t offered the pudding menu either. We would definitely come again.

So here’s the thing about Twickenham and the restaurants it offers; most of the Indian restaurants on High Street and Church Street are good, the Italian restaurants on Church Street hit the spot, and the Vietnamese restaurants are all crap. In comes Chicago Rib Shack located just on York Street across from Zizzi’s. Their £8 lunch specials is the hook that makes me keep on coming back for more. You can get a half rack of ribs with chips and a coleslaw, quarter rack of ribs with BBQ chicken wings with chips or a burger with chips. I haven’t tried the burger yet but every time that I have been in, I get the half rack of ribs or the quarter rack with chicken wings — amazing. Be sure to ask for the insanely spicy hot sauce to pour over the ribs if your tastebuds are sadistic like mine.

I attended the first day of their 3 day soft launch. The only problem i had was their timings but you would expect this on their first day They opened 25 mins late but didn’t let the waiting customers know and it was freezing. They struggled with the amount of customers my table didn’t seem to have a waitress attending it and what should have been a 1hr meal(we had a child with us so no leisurely meal) took just over 2hrs, The food itself was tasty and up to the Chicago Rib Shack standard. We started off with a mixture of starters — Pork spring rolls — very nice Calamari — didn’t like the corn seasoning as it overpowered the taste of the calamari and wasn’t crispy. BBQ wings — they were finger licking good and finally a plate of nachos with the added chilli beef — oh wow these were fantastic i could just eat a bowl of the chilli or a chilli dog! I can never choose my ribs so they do have a mixed plate of pulled pork, baby back ribs, belly ribs and beef ribs but they were not serving that at the soft launch but i will be back for those. We all went for the baby back ribs and they were so very tasty we had them with the manslaw which is a coleslaw mixed with jalapenos and choriza, seasoned fries and mac n cheese. We finished with a gooey brownie and ice cream — heaven!!! but they do serve a alcoholic bread and butter pudding which is on my to eat next time list. Their homemade lemonade was little fresh and not like the previous ones I have had a clapham. The Oreo milkshake was superb and my son loved it. I had the peanut butter milkshake but it needed more peanut butter as it tasted to milky. The actual décor is clean and airy. It’s a lot bigger than Clapham, and has comfortable big booths.
