Gordon Rigg Nurseries

Five months ago I did a review for the Gordon Riggs that is not far from where I live.
The other day we ventured accross the border to the branch just outside Todmorden, a place that sounds so Yorkshire it should come with a free Whippet and a pint of John Smiths.
This will be my third review for a garden centre, not bad for a person who hates gardens, gardening, gardeners and Graham Gardner. To be fair though we only went to buy some niger seed with which to feed the garden birdies, and as usual we came away with several things, none of which had anything to do with gardening.
They really do have a wide selection of stuff, especially in the shop that they also own across the road. This place sells jams, toys, clothes, pens, popping candy, kitchen things and things with your name on. I say your name especially if you are called Leo, not Lee, Leo. They had quite a lot of Leo related stock. I have reached the age of 40 with only knowing one Leo on a personal level and that was over 20 years ago. If you are reading this Leo, I know where you can get a pen with your name on it!

I had some Hozelock connectors despatched by Gordon Rigg after buying them on their website. Found the via Google shopping and seemed cheapest in the country. Delivery was cheap and fast as welll.

Gordon Riggs is a lovely garden centre between Todmorden and Littleborough.
Its certainly not the largest garden centre in the world but they have a good range of plants and associated products. The place is well set out and theres enough room to wander about without bumping in to other people or plants.
I think the products are fairly well priced and the staff have always been polite and helpful when ever I’ve needed any assistance. There’s a decent sized car park in relation to the size of the garden centre and its all flat so good access for all.
I will no doubt visit again and recommend to a friend.

As an avid gardener I have visited most of the Garden Centres in Yorkshire and Lancashire. Gordon Riggs beats them all. It is huge, and they have all the usual plants — plus some decidedly unusual ones! Many of the plants are kept under-​cover, so even on rainy days there is plenty to look at. There plants usually succeed, I have had very few that die. Even non-​gardeners enjoy a trip to Riggs — their range of ornaments and presents is massive, especially on the run-​up to Christmas. They also have a large pet supply area and a good range of garden furniture. Something for everyone.

We moved to Yorkshire when I was a child because of Gordon Riggs. It was the biggest and best garden centre in the northwest and my parents loved it.
It is a family owned and run garden centre (half the local high school kids have worked there at some point). It’s not slick and flashy like some of the chain garden centres but the prices are slightly lower because of that.
Every year it has great Christmas displays and a huge array of decorations, trees, outdoor lights etc.
There’s a really good floristry department. They sell cut flowers but also do weddings (they did my wedding flowers), funerals, the local church flowers etc. My wedding flowers were great and about half the price qouted by the florists in town.
They’ve got a big range of indoor and outdoor plants, ornaments etc.
There’s now a café and home store across the road as well but the garden centre itself only has a coffee machine (and a burger van in the carpark.
