Dunster

Dunster is a pretty town & the Abbey
gardens are lovely on a summer day

I’d advise anyone who’s looking for a beautiful place to visit to take a look at Dunster. They’ll love it.
The Castle is the first thing you see as you drive along the straight, tucked into it’s hill.
You can look around the Castle or walk round the small town taking in all the different shops, which range from steel work fudge ans sweets.
There is a working water mill with some lovely places to eat and drink.
Dunster by candlelight is a wonderful experience if you’re brought in by train it’s even more magical an experience!

If you visit taunton make sure you visit Dunster — good coffee shop (cobbles) great sites in the yarn market and castle and some spectacular walks around the Bats Castle Hillfort and Coneygar tower.

We take any visitors we have to Dunster. They all love it. The first sight of the Castle as you drive along the straight nestled into the hills always gets a great reaction. Dunster is quaint and full of history being a medieval town. You can look around the Castle or walk to the folly at the top of the hill. The shops are great and different, with everything from steel work to books to fudge to ice cream. There is a working water mill and great places to eat and drink. Dunster by candlelight is a twinkly experience usually the first weekend in Dec and really gets you into the xmas mood, where everyone dresses up in medieval clothes. There is usually a hog roast and buskers in the square next to the Yarn Market. Walk around the corner and also find great shops as well as the church, which is extremely pretty or sit in contemplation in the walled garden. It also boasts a great barn which holds local art and events. Lovely place you will never really tire of.

Dunster is a lovely little medieval village near Exmoor National Park.
Dunster Castle is a large castle is an 11^th Century Castle on a hill nearby. I recently visited Dunster in the Winter and the Castle wasn’t open which was a bit annoying.
There are some nice gift shops and Cafes in Dunster and in August it hosts the Dunster Show, a large agricultural show, which is worth a visit.

Dunster is lovely. Very medieval, with a castle you can visit, tea rooms to take time out in, and lots of nice B&Bs. Very quaint.
If you can get there for Dunster by Candlelight night (usually first saturday in december i think), DO IT. It’s excellent.

Dunster selbst ist ein mittelalterliches historisches Dorf, sehr gepflegt und einfach «wonderful». Überall gibt es Kopfsteinpflaster.
Das Schloss Dunster stammt aus dem 11. Jahrhundert. Traumhaft!
