History
Established in 1993.
NCAD builds on a heritage of IDTA and RAD theatre dance schools that have existed in the area for many years.
The North Cheam branches were established initially by Miss Peggy Harrison, a major figure in the IDTA, standing on many committees and lecturing world wide. She was succeeded by Miss Jan Virno, now a principal examiner again operating internationally. Sarah undertook further training with Jan Virno then bought her school, The North Cheam Stage and Ballet School, which saw the birth of NCAD.
The Worcester Park branch was added in 2009 when Alexandra Elwood, the existing owner of Supanova Dance School, approached Sarah. They were both studying the RAD Master of Teaching in Dance, and as Alexandra also taught dance in an academic school, she felt could not dedicate sufficient time to Supanova. Supanova was built from the classes of Mrs Sheila Mackie, a long established theatre dance school in the local area.
We now have children and grandchildren of previous local dancers!

Sarah P.
Business Owner
B. Phil (Hons); RAD RTS & Teach Dip; FIDTA; Dance Ex Dip.
Sarah moved to London from the West Midlands, when she gained a place at the Royal Academy of Dancing. Whilst furthering her qualifications locally in IDTA theatre branch subjects, an opportunity arose and NCAD was born in 1993.
Now with a strong support team of eleven talented teachers bringing their enthusiasm and skills to NCAD, the school continues to grow from strength to strength. Sarah is highly qualified as a dance teacher, but is now often of the person giving out the letters — with a wealth of brilliant teachers at NCAD and 2 children at home, the organising of the school involves enough typing, let alone the tapping! Sarah is a tutor and mentor to RAD graduating ballet teachers, some of whom come and share their knowledge and enthusiasm with us at NCAD. She is also a Practical Teaching Supervisor for the RAD, assessing and guiding training teachers, and is progressing through the Master of Teaching (Dance) degree.
