Sorrento Restaurant

We had a voucher that gave us 2 steaks for £9.95(although I only paid £4.95 for it) Ive used these before in Italian restaurants and have always been disappointed, but decided to be optomistic and give this one a try. On the online menu it looked as though you had to purchase chips seperately, and there not being a pricelist for drinks, I expected the worst. I was WRONG… The staff were a lot better mannered and sociable than our recent exploits in Newcastle. The drinks were relatively cheap at £1.50 for half a lager, or £1.30 for a soft drink. We arent big eaters so declined a starter, but were served with 2 bread rolls with butter,(which I assumed we would have to pay for). On ordering we were asked if we wanted chips or veg with the steaks, which came within the price (not as an extra as I thought).Although the steaks were possibly only around 5ounces, they were very tasty, my wife got a large griiled tomato and mushrooms with hers and i got a tasty Dianne” sauce with mine. we ate it all, and it was very niceWe asked for the bill, which came to £1.50.the price of one lager (i dont drink with a meal).I would definately go back, but would hope the steak to be at least 8 ounces if paying full price.

This is a really nice place. The staff are friendly and polite, with a nice choice of dishes at reasonable prices. I had a really good evening here and will definately be going again. The food was delicious and I ak aoready plannign my next trip. Highly recommend!!!

On a visit to sunderland for my daughters graduation from university we all went to sorentos to celebrate we where a party of five and after being seated (on the worlds most uncomfortable chairs we all ordered drinks!) Mine a lager came from a can (i can buy that from the off licence)
Moving on to the food i ordered spagheti mariner appauling prawns tasted like rubber and the mussels tasted like well words i cant find to describe!
Safe to say not one in five ppl actually finished the food (i use the term lightly) on the plate. at this point we decided to pay and leave and find another restaurant!!! So all the other comments on this page either are very old or your taste buds have been killed by something in the food at sorentos would i eat there ever again no way not even if someone else was paying…

My first visit there and I was not at all disapointed. The staff were very warm, friendly, they were dressed very smart, the service was very quick and very good. The food menu was nice and varied, the quality was good and at the average price you would normally pay in a proper Italian restauarnt.
The furniture is nice, candles on the table to keep the place well lit.
It was a Thursday night, a little bit quiet but I shall definately be going back there when I am next in the area!

A new restaurant, delightful homely atmosphere great service. Extensive menu and a great Early Bird prices. Please note the do not accept credit cards, and the nearest free cash dispenser is 5 minutes away. There are a number of Italian venues available but this is one of the best there sauces are exceptional,

Cheap and cheerful, Top quality pizzas on a budget, and can’t go wrong with the generous portions of muscles for a starter if you like sea food. Just make sure you have cash with you as they don’t take cards or cheques.
