St Helens Central Railway Station

From the outside this station looks very modern but inside it’s a bit empty with lots of unused space, downstairs at least. It is however is in a convenient location for the town centre and St. Helens rugby stadium isn’t too far away in the opposite direction which I guess is what really matters.

It’s a simple two platform station for services to Blackpool, Preston and Liverpool and Warrington!
One self service ticket machine but the touch screen seems a bit tough to push the buttons ! It’s nice and clean and big easy signs to read to get your destination !

St. Helens Central Railway Station is a railway station serving the town of St Helens, Merseyside. It is on the Liverpool to Wigan Line from Liverpool Lime Street to Wigan North Western. The station and all trains calling at it, are operated by Northern Rail.
This station is so much better now it has been refurbished. It is St. Helens main station so it’s quite facilitated and it’s fairly attractive. It is staffed the majority of the time so there is usually someone on hand to answer questions or get directions. The staff are also very helpful so if you need assistance, make sure you enquire. There is a long stay and short stay car park. The long stay does fill up early but it is free. It is convenient to hop on a train to Liverpool or Wigan and during the day they are quite regular.
Overall, a decent train station with a modern and secure feel to it.
