We had a very bad experience with Acanthus in June 2011. My partner used there services 2 years ago and there were no problems whatsoever. Not so this time around. We stayed at the Blue Cottage in Southwold and the advertising for the property mentioned that there was a toilet/​bathroom but did not mention that it was an en suite bathroom which meant we had guests walking through our bedroom in the middle of the night. In addition, the property wasn’t cleaned properly so four of us used 2 hours to make the place look presentable. When Acanthus finally did call us after we left repeated messages on their answering machine they said that they would change the advertising about the bathroom but weren’t exactly helpful regarding the cleaning. They sent cleaners over 2 days into our vacation but the place had already been cleaned at that point. Our complaints feel on deaf hears there were other problems as well. Acanthus suggested we talk to the owners of the property and wouldn’t take any responsibility whatsoever. We were very dissatisfied to say the least

We stayed in Burchley in December 2010 and it is a quiet and warm bungalow, ideal for my elderly father and a small dog (secure back garden). One very minor problem with a radiator was resolved within hours.
The decorative state throughout was adequate, and excellent in the two newly refurbished bathrooms. The built-​in log burning stove was amazing, and the dog slept (or cooked) in the log space underneath it of an evening !
We received good advice and excellent service from the ladies at Acanthus who, despite a snowstorm that was closing roads in Suffolk, stayed to give us our key and directions. We have booked again for April 2011 and would not have done so unless we were 100% satisfied with the premises and service from Acanthus.

We have just had a wonderful weekend in our favourite place on earth. We visit many times a year but use Acanthus for our annual festive break. The whole team are always very helpful, friendly and welcoming — explaining what we need to know whilst leaving us to explore the rest — the perfect balance. The accommodation was again superb — clean, warm, with festive decorations to add to the atmosphere. We will be back in 2011.
