As a youth, walking past this place whenever I was in Birkdale always fascinated me. For some reason though, I always remembered it as being a cheese museum and/or factory, perhaps like a miniature Willy Wonka factory situated in the middle of Birkdale village. Quite how I managed to think that could happen in this small shop is unclear; you could barely fit the oompa-loompas in here, let alone the other bits. I recently visited the Cheese Centre again though and found it to be a lovely, family-run shop that has a brilliant selection of cheeses. Whilst I’m not a massive fan of cheese, even I was salivating whilst browsing all the different flavours they had, but with their products changing on a weekly basis I would definitely recommend you visiting the shop yourself to savour all of its delights. If by some chance you don’t see a cheese that you fancy, the staff will also be more than happy to try and find it for you and order it in. As well as cheese, they also do hampers, specialist foods and a selection of cheesecakes(which is a lot more my thing) and I can confirm they are as delicious as the cheeses, with a light yet flavoursome consistency. A delightful little shop for all your dairy-based needs.
