The Esplanade

A family pub restaurant, it has been owned by various chains and at times has been a reasonable place to go. It is located on Western Esplanade not far from Adventure Island the main fun park along the sea front. The pub has demanding stairs to climb to get in which has been given disabled lift assistance, but the last few times I have been in it has not been working. Each visit has brought a differing opinion of the quality of the food and sometimes it is no more than you would expect from this type of Harvester come Beefeater come Brewsters type venue. There have also been other times when the service has been wanting and the food cold, undercooked or just not available. If you are in a mind to go I might suggest taking a beer at the bar first and surveying the current custom to see their reaction to their food before ordering a table. The standards could be varying dependent on who the duty manager is or the duty cook or both. When the seafront has a spectacle on fireworks, carnival procession, airshow the upstairs terrace bar provides the perfect view.
