Jacket potatoes the size of footballs, (almost), very polite staff, soothing and enticing smells. though very crowded and in a fairly run-​down area of the town centre, (in the old market place near York Road).
Unfortunatly, the nearby area is pretty desolated, or the stores are of not reasonable quality, so it drives down the atmosphere, though as stated, the atmosphere of the shop itself is quite good.
The fruit and veg is of great quality, very fresh, and reasonably priced.

The biggest Jkt potatoes in ESSEX. 3 for a pound, excellent. All the usual and unusual fruit and veg you could think of. Set in York Road Market opposite the Cheap card shop. Its an oasis of interesting food. and smells. Fresh boiled beetroot. (been boiling beetroot on the premises for over 50 years under different ownerships) but this one is the best. Friendly stafff Scotts girl Bobby is charming. A real interacial Green grocers.
