Not very good at all low quality sausages fish that is mostly batter onion rings that are frozen and from a supermarket do i need to go on i have tried this place a few times due to living just across the road but would rather travel to the triangle, it gets 1 star for the curry sauce which is quite tasty

Visited the place on spec, having read the review on Qype and urgently needing somewhere to get decent F&C in Southampton.
I wasn’t disappointed — the meal I ate was magic! Proper fish & chips, freshly cooked (at 8pm on a Wednesday) and I was able to drive down the hill and eat them in the park. Outstanding!
Good value, too — £4.90 for large cod and regular chips, and I even asked them to put some of the chips back because I wouldn’t eat them all.

Midanbury has two great take away places including this chippy.
Mike the owner, keeps a ship shape place and ensures the staff he employs know exactly how to keep their customers happy.
I use this place about once a month as a treat for getting through the month with, hopefully, a few pennies spare!
The Quality of food
This is not the best quality chippy in the world but it is convenient, tasty enough usually and reasonably priced — a sausage in batter is 0.80p for example. If you are given food that has just been cooked it tastes lovely, hot and fresh, my main complaint is that they leave the chips for too long — if for example not as many customers have gone in — so if you are given chips from the tail end they are not really hot enough and a little chewy.
The fish comes in lovely crispy batter — never been undercooked — and is always a good size and very thick chunky fish so you never feel ripped off. The burgers are fried with everything else so I do avoid them as they tend to taste far too greasy.
The place is kept clean and clear of debris and I have never felt ill after eating here.
