Visited this restaurant for the first time with friends on a weekday evening where it was moderately busy. We were seated straight away and got right to the buffet, where there was a good variety of Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Italian food, check out the fish pakoras, they were lovely! You go around a square choosing what you want but there was no set way to go around. Three plates later and I was too full for the desserts bar! I tried to have a bit from each cuisine as it was my first time there and I really enjoyed it, plus the waiters coming round with jugs of water was very good too. I would definitely come back, maybe on a Sunday where I’ve heard they do the traditional Sunday roast.

Visited this buffet restaurant for a lunch time all you can eat, gut busting buffet. Unsure why i had avoided or just simply not had the urge to visit this chain restaurant before, i ventured in and was pleasantly surprised. Bustling and as busy as everytime i walked past it, the waiter greeted me promptly and and showed me to a table. Eyes bigger than stomach syndrome kicked in as i grabbed my plate and followed my nose and eyes. Thai, Chinese, Mexican, Indian and Italian food choices available. I went straight for the indian(surprise surprise) choices, and piled my plate with egg fried rice, Lamb Rogan Josh and home made chicken curry. I requested the chef on hand to make me a dosa(crêpe made from rice batter filled with spicy potato). Food was very tasty. Up and away again to the stir fry station and piled my plate with raw ingredients — chicken, prawns, mushrooms, peppers and beansprouts. the chef cooked my ingredients in a hot wok within minutes whilst i waited and spiced it to my liking. Feeling full i next went for mixed olives, salad and steamed fish. Dessert selection is fantastic and very eye catching, even if your full. I had mango cheesecake bites, some ice cream from their famous ice cream machine, with chocolate sauce. that was me done and done… and i mean done! Couldn’t fault it really for 7.99. I recommend a visit, especially if ravenous. Drinks are expensive, tap water option is always there. Pay and display parking on the side of restaurant. Check it out.

Although the Jimmy Spices restaurant in Birmingham is almost at my doorstep, I always opt to travel the extra mile to Solihull. It’s nowhere near as manic and busy. Moreover, it’s much cleaner and the seating is so much more comfortable! It’s a buffet restaurant, which is music to any food-addicts ears! They service cuisines from all over the globe, specialising in Indian, Chinese and Italian. Although if you could make it on a Sunday afternoon then tuck in to a carvery roast! A lot of the dishes are prepared in front of you so they’re as fresh as can be. It also means you could decide how spicy you’d like your stir fry or dosa(south Indian dish). The waiting staff are always welcoming and polite. And if you’re going for a kid’s party then be sure to book in advance and enquire about the free cake they provide!

I remember there a big buzz around this place when they opened 5+ yrs ago. For a first time visit its excellent, great choices of food from italian, indian and Chinese. The beers are expensive! — This place would make a good family eatery or a works do. They normally do offers(2 for price of 1) so always worth popping in to see if they got anything on first. Its probably not a place i would go to again as i like king prawn curries and they only do chicken and lamb!

Update November 2011 My wife wanted to return here, but after the last episode she won’t go back. The food was all OK. The service was crap. Plus they put on an optional 10% service charge. This time it was over £8. I didn’t want to make a scene, but my wide said later she would happily accepted that we had just cause to ask for it to be removed. We kept on having to remove our own dishes. So what is the service charge for is you have to do this yourself. Nevertheles, the drinks came once we could get their attention. I like the food options, and if going with work colleagues i will suggest that the optional charge is removed, and give the tip to the person who we feel deserves it. So, not sure when I’m likely to return. The parking outside is a pain before 6pm. Thene there’s a different charge after 6pm. Not very good for the local businesses. I can understand the reasons during the day, but evening should encourage people to visit. This is not the restaurants fault. Dropped a star due to the poor service. December 09 I’ve been here a few times. First time was a crowd from work for our Christmas bash. The food, and concept are great. Seeing food being prepared fresh. I like the buffet style. Also done lunch a few times. It is well worth a visit, but ring if it is like to be around a busy time, and don’t use the online booking system. I used it and the booking went into the ether. When I chased, I was told I should have booked earlier, but they would check, but they returned my call too late, and I rearranged with another restaurant. Places like these can perhaps afford to lose a few bookings as they are very popular. I just wish they tested their own systems. Nevertheless, go back to my original, I enjoyed the food.

The staff isn’t that friendly. In the USA, it is really easy to build a relationship with the owner or manager. I came here probably about seven times with large parties, bringing loads of business. It would have been really nice if they guy remembered us. Anyhow, the food is yummy. Too bad their ice cream machine broke. Parking is a joke. The parking spaces next to the location has a 30 minute limit. Apparently, you cannot extend the parking another 30 minutes. it was really annoying to move my car and deal with the parking enforcement

As a concept, this restaurant should work. The buffet stands have a wide range of different items for adventurous or less adventurous tastes, and this would seem to be ideal for groups, giving everyone a choice. In practice, the experience is less good. The décor is pleasant, and we did not find the restaurant cramped. There are tiled steps up to the seating area, which can be a bit hazardous when you are making your way back from the buffet. There are queues for some of the buffet stations, meaning that your fellow diners may get up with you to collect their food, but are likely to be dining at a very different time if they have to wait. On the two occasions we have visited, there were children playing with the food, and no effort made by either staff or parents to deal with this. We also thought the soft drinks were expensive. The staff were welcoming, but their presence became intrusive, with plates vanishing as soon as you had lowered a fork. Generally ok, rather than good. I don’t think we’ll be rushing back, unless as part of a work group where you are looking to please a wide variety of people.

Jimmy Spices was a wonderful experience for me. For a start as soon as you walk in your welcomed by a member of staff with a good attitude and a smile on their face. You are served quickly and efficiently. The food is lovely. It is a indian buffet. There is loads of choice and all the dishes are seasoned perfectly and presented very well. Value for money is what you recieve at Jimmy Spices. There is a very happy atmosphere and it is the perfect place for a family meal. It is also just a really nice place to be. The interior is a perfect balance of asian and contempary. All the food is fresh made infront of you which is an added bonus. The restaurant sits 200 customers so be sure to make your reservations now. I would reccomend this restaurant to just about anyone who likes a good asian spicy buffet meal.

Can not fault the food at all, great for people who like me do not try new things often as they are worried they wont like them! You can sample a few things you wouldn’t normally choose and see if you like them or not. I have been here a few times but the last time I went we ordered a HOUSE bottle of wine and as I am not a wine drinker didn’t have any but the others did not notice the name and to be honest don’t think they would have had a clue if it was a pricey one or the usual £10−15 a bottle you expect to pay for house wine. We got the bill and it was £50 a bottle — ouch! Not a lot we could do but pay for it as it was drank. Was fairly angry though as we all know we asked for house wine as unless it is a special occasion that is all anyone would drink in a restaurant. Will not be going again because of this but with regards to the food it is good.

Didn’t enjoy my experience here, Very cramped, expensive drinks(especially still water with the seals broke. Looked like they wher filled from the Tap). Food was of poor quality and hardly had any time to eat.(Food very expensive) I found the staff rude and unfortunately there was a lot of children sticking their hands in the food and flicking it across other food. And if you have a disability(which I don’t), the toilets are up a huge flight of stairs and there is no lift, and there would be no room between tables to sit in your wheel chair.
