Rawson Spring

Good addition to Hillsborough. It is a Wetherspoon pub, so offers cheap food and drink, but has a good atmosphere. Large heated outside area for all smokers!

Hillsborough has few decent pubs and bars, so I’m glad Wetherspoons resurrected the old ‘Deep End’ and gave local drinkers somewhere else to go.
Like most Wetherspoon pubs, you know what you’re going to get here. Decent food and a good range of drink at knock-​down prices. This is exactly what people want, so fair play. Of course, the one-​size-​fits-​all experience comes at the expense of atmosphere. If you like to go somewhere quirky or leftfield there many great places in Sheffield like The Dove & Rainbow or The Showroom, but you wont find what you want here.
The Rawson utilises the capacity of the old swimming baths well and features a good beer garden (though some actual ‘garden’ would be nice). For me, it’s a bizarre experience to enjoy a whisky in the place I learned to swim!
The best time to go would be on a weeknight to enjoy a cheap steak/​curry or before the football on a Saturday. It’s not really worth going out of your way for, but nevertheless, a much-​needed addition to the Hillsborough scene.
