I’m going to the O2 in Sheffield in October to see Labrinth and looking forward to it because I’ve been before and it’s a nice venue. I found it a nice sized place and quite clean and well run. I remember the system for taking tickets/​letting us in being effective so there was not too much waiting around.

With it being located at the very centre of the city, it was disappointing to see this building empty for so many years, and since re-​opening the old ‘Roxy’ nightclub in 2008 as the ‘O2 academy’ sheffield’s nightlife has been given a healthy boost. As well as a good venue to see some fairly big-​name artists, the Academy is also a great place to be on fridays for the ‘Propaganda’ club night.

Great gig went to see. Fratellis last year with my son 17 years old his first gig and all so memorable fantastic atmosphere provided by the venue, cold night outside but a warm welcome frienly staff and ice cold ber shame bout plastic glasses but necessary evil Will visit again

I love it just for the fact Sheffield finally has a place to go see mid level acts without the hassle of going to Manchester or Leeds. Beer prices are reasonable (for a gig) and the sound is great. Love it.

Located close to train, tram and bus stops its a great place to get to. Sound for gigs and clubs is great, and there always is a good atmosphere. Drinks can be expensive, so its best to choose something on offer. The main night is Transmission on Fridays, though it is open on other nights. I’d definatley reccomend it though!

Have been for gigs and club nights — lots of drinks offers but beware — if you choose something that’s not on offer — it is very pricey!

I went to see The Twang perform here in June 08. The small room was fantastic for gig. Very intimate! The low ceiling made for a great, enclosed atmosphere.

im going to have to majorly disagree with the comment about rude bar staff as i thought they were incredibly friendly. I lost my purse and staff couldnt have been more helpful. Even going from behind the bar to help me look for it.
As has been said before this is a pretty massive and impressive place. Seems to have catched on to the indie scensters who usually dwell in the leadmill but overall a pretty good night. Good student drink prices on wednesday

Direction: This is almost opposit the crucible. Near the Odean cinema. It was the ‘The Roxy’ Nightclub before.
Its real good in here, pretty big, and great atmosphere! recommended! But i did experience a RUDE RUDE BARSTAFF! but thats not guna put me off going again.
