History

Established in 2006.

In 2006 after working several years traveling the globe as the group IT manager for Abercrombie & Kent Tom Jolly hung up his boots and decided to settle down and go it alone starting up his own IT consultancy. Initially Tom helped friends like Dan Watkins of Contact Law Ltd get their business going with a server, desktops and phones and partnered with Paul Clift from Working Telecoms to support Adam House’s managed office on the Strand. From those tiny acorns the business now has a client base of over 200 businesses, many on monthly support contracts and nearly all of them can be traced back via referrals to those first few. A keen believer in education, certification and experience, as of 2015 Jolly IT has 7 full time employees and 3 apprentices working towards ITIL, Comp TIA and Microsoft MCSA qualifications over the next 2 years. Business Owner

My grandfather was a mechanic in the war with a keen eye for fixing problems with motorcycles. My father was an electrician who initially worked for Burroughs Corporation as a teenager before it became Unisys, the biggest IT Company after IBM in the 90’s. He described repairing adding machines at Peter Jones in the 70’s. I grew up surrounded by circuit boards, cables and soldering irons! I studied computing and IT through school and University eventually taking and passing many Microsoft certifications to become an IT Assistant, IT Manager and then finally an IT Consultant running my own IT consultancy. There is a constant theme running through the generations to work with the latest technology and fix it! From an early age I wanted a trade I could earn money from. It didn’t have to be IT, but with a father and grandfather like mine it made it very easy to follow that path.
