yes the atmosphere could be a little more profesional but we thoroughly enjoyed the food on our visit and thought it was quite good value. staff were also very accomodating

Oh dear!!! What a nightmare of a restaurant. Despite having an entire empty restaurant the waitress gave us a tiny table wedged next to the only other couple dining there. Eventually customer power prevailed and we decided to move to larger tables where we could not overhear every word said on the other table! First disappointment, no draught lager — it was ‘not available tonight’ — only the bottled(i.e 150 per cent extra mark up). the starters were OK but fairly unremarkable — the portions of chutney very scant. The main course was supposed to be ‘Indian Tiger King Prawns’ — in my local Indian restaurant these are large succulent prawns which need to be butterflied to cook. What we got were a half dozen ordinary supermarket king prawns in a meat gravy flavoured sauce. Utterly hideous. My Chinese take away uses better quality prawns in a £3.60 meal. the menu price of the Dosanj dish was £18.50!!! To make matters worse, a simple extra order of breads which we forgot when ordering initially but added to the order at most 5 minutes afterwards arrived so late we had finished our main — so we sent them back. The total bill was over £50 — it is a demonstration of how poor the meal was that we had a £50 voucher for which we had paid £16.50, and we still felt tempted not to pay the balance above the £50 bill. A meal in my local Indian take away would have been more than three times as good, and the bill would have been half.

Would not recommend going to this place. I’m quite a fan of Southern Indian food, so was pleased to give this place a try when some friends suggested it. We’d been warned that the prices are high(around £6 for a starter, £13 for a dosa or uttapam) — but had at least expected the food to be good and maybe a little more substantial than a standard dosa. We were wrong on both counts — easily the worst take on dosa and uttapam we’ve had in the UK or India, and very mean portions even taking into account the 2-for-1 offer that was on.
