As a bar of an evening I love this place! The musics good — the DJ constantly swearing over the mic on a Friday night is ahem interesting! — the staff are efficient and the general atmosphere is good! Drinks are reasonably priced and the beer garden is a great place to congregate with patio heaters for when it’s a bit cooler! I must add though I wouldn’t bother visiting in the day– they offer cake & coffee for £3– the drinks were Luke warm and the cake was a tiny(even the kids would’ve been disappointed) piece of waitrose’s finest & lovely as it is I could buy the whole cake for less and enjoy it more! What is a great night venue is dark & dingy by day! With tables stacked up at the side, which is no mean feat considering they are old beer barrels, it felt like an after thought! The whole cake & coffee thing should either be done properly or not at all — for what’s on offer I personally wouldn’t bother opening in the day at all, it must’ve cost the owner more in utilities and staffing than was actually made– however if they need staff in the day I’m more than happy to take a job– being paid to sit chatting with friends in the beer garden is most agreeable! Shame really because it could be so much more if it was given some thought — we ended up leaving & going to Costa to get a hot drink! The 3 stars I gave it were purely for the night time side of things sadly brought down buy the miserable existence/experience of the day visit!
