I visit Serendipitea on a very regular basis. They do tasty simple breakfasts and teas, coffees and cakes. There are also sandwich options for people popping in on their lunch break. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially Flo, the owner, who really makes a point of making you feel welcome. And the cupcakes are the best!

Great little shabby chic and girlie coffee house. Excellent chai latte, great range of teas and cupcakes. Just a bit over kill on the mayo on my sandwich! I’ll definitely be coming back to hang out again soon.

Situated on the busy Washway Road has quickly become a verdant valley of caffeine and weekend breakfast indulgence for a lot of locals. We are surrounded by lots of good cafes further afield but there isn’t a great selection in Sale town itself so Serendipitea is a welcome inclusion. Serendipitea a very homely feel, with wooden tables chairs and panelling and local artists work hung on the walls. The coffee is decent quality and the brew reliable. There is a selection of tea and herbal/infusions. They have a loyalty card which is greatly appreciated. Whilst the breakfast menu isn’t vast but has everything you would want full english, veg breakfast, eggs benedict etc. and they do pannini’s, jacket potatoes etc. which are snapped up by the surprising number of office workers nearby. There also have a forever changing selection of gourmet cupcakes available, sourced from another local business. The owner Flo is extremely committed to supporting local businesses and has small craft events occasionally after hours and a knitting circle I believe. Flo is very friendly and goes out of her way to make you feel welcome, genuinely interested in what you’ve been up to if she hasn’t seen you in a while. She even gave me a free coffee on my birthday. There is a downstairs play area for children which can used for extra seating when the ground floor fills up.

I’m not a frequenter of coffee shops; not really sure exactly why but perhaps my dislike of coffee(the taste, not the smell) and not wanting to pay a couple of quid for a bog standard cup of tea had something to do with it… Anyway, as a recent resident of Sale I decided to have a look inside Serendipitea — the name alone had me sold. Stepping in from the hustle of Washway Road it’s an oasis of calm in there, sleek, clean yet homely. The owner was incredibly welcoming and we got to chatting, they’ve been open 10 months and business has been good. Whilst I was in there a steady stream of customers came in, some ordered and stayed, some ordered and took out. At first I was only feeling like a hot brew, so opted for an Earl Grey which was from Stash Tea Company — it tasted delicious, not had a tea hit me in such a satisfying way in a long time. Anyway, after that I decided to grab a light bite as well so went for their scrambled eggs on brown toast. It was absolutely delicious. They have an all day breakfast menu which I’d definitely be trying again more thoroughly. They also have freshly prepared baguettes, paninis, jacket potatoes — and cake. I’ve found my Central Perk.
