Cook sells high quality frozen ready meals made with ingredients you’d use at home. It’s a slightly unusual experience if you don’t know what to expect, as basically it’s a shop full of freezer cabinets. They do sell a few snacks but the main business is frozen food. The staff here are really friendly and helpful.
There’s a good selection of different types of meal from shepherds pie to a more exotic stuff like curries and all in portion sizes for one person up to 4 – 6 people. Desserts are also on offer.
You can also get good children’s meals here, where they hide the veg and reduce (or even eliminate) any added salt/​sugar.
I got a turkey crown here for Christmas and it was delicious, better than I would have managed had I done it myself (and I consider myself to be pretty nifty at Christmas dinner). The accompanying veg — roast spuds, cabbage/​bacon/​pine nuts, parmesan parsnips — also went down very well.
The price reflects the quality and convenience on offer, but if you’re cash-​rich/​time-​poor and want something that’s a cut above the bog standard M&S stuff, you can’t really go wrong here.
