Tootsies

Just had a relaxing lunch at Tootsies in the Oracle in Reading. I could see nothing wrong with it. It was by no means full, but then you wouldn’t expect it to be on a Wednesday at lunchtime. The service was good and our table waiter very friendly and attentive. The choice is good and definitely wider than many other restaurants around. Vegies and the health conscious are well-​catered for — for example there is Mediterranean Platter to share and a fabulous Superfoods Salad which you can have as a starter or a main course. Of course there are various fish and meat dishes as well. It’s nice to see decent sized salads as a side order too. Very convenient place for lunch while out shopping or just before you whizz across the bridge to the cinema.

I was also disappointed by my experience with Tootsies in Reading. After a very busy day my partner and I just had enough time to eat before jumping on a train to get to Bristol in time for a family birthday. We explained our rush to the waitress who was happy to recommend which items on the menu can take longer to cook than others. With only one other occupied table in the restaurant, we thought our luck was in. Sadly not. It took ten minutes just to get the two glasses of tap water we ordered, and a further twenty to get our meals. When they finally arrived, I explained our concern that we only had 20 minutes until our train (the station being a good 10 minute walk away) and asked for the bill immediately. 15 minutes later we ended up picking our meal up in our hands, leaving the money on the table (having to guess at how much it cost, thanks to no bill) and running rather quickly to the station.
It shouldn’t be impossible to enjoy a small meal in an empty restaurant in under 50 minutes. Tootsies seemed to find that a challenge and they met it head on. I’ll never go back there again.

I was veyr disapointed with Tootsies in Reading. Firstly despite it being a steak restaurant the steak i had was one of the worse i have had since living in Reading.
I found the food and drinks to be pricey for their quality (or lack of) and i found that service left alot to be desired.
I doubt we would go back.
