O2

Good service from knowledgeable and helpful associates who seem to have some magic system for managing the customer flow in this small retail location. They have an excellent selection of modern cell phones and accessories. My US AT&T (I spit on you!) iPhone is SIM locked and while the O2 people are happy to sell me a SIM, but by contract with Apple they are unable to help unlock the phone to use on their own network. They did suggest that there *might* be people nearby who could help, for a small fee. ;-)
Sadly, I had to take away three stars because O2’s network is the pits. Terrible. Awful. Major holes in coverage, even in urban locations such as Reading Town Centre and on the train from Reading into Paddington. Often I get a «you have a voice mail» message when my mobile never rang. And surfing for data sometimes works and sometimes does not. I’m seriously disappointed, but I understand that this is par-​for-​the-​course in the UK with most carriers (and I can’t really say that it was much better with AT&T in North Carolina). I might give someone else a try later.
