If this is a deli my head is a spoon. Surely a deli means a selection of meats and treats displayed in a coolling cabinet which you can eat there and then — you know like salads, olives, cheeses, pickles and that sort of thing. This place isn’t really a deli its more of a little sandwich shop that also sells some hot food. Inside is very small and decorated with pop art style posters and tributes to various Disney characters. We ate outside as on that particular day the weather was glorious. The staff were lovely and even provided a bowl of water for our dog, who wasn’t in the least bit interested as there were some scraps of food near-by causing his mouth to provide enough water. The setting is gorgeous, right beside Portaferry Castle and with lovely views of the lough. This is a very cheap and cheerful place to eat — we ordered a plate of chips and gravy to share and a ham and cheese toastie each. Basic food, no salad items on the side and no offerings of sauce — tasty as be-damned though! I was secretly happy when my fiancé announced he didn’t want anymore and I was able to hoover up his leftovers — yum! The bill was so cheap we both think maybe they ripped themselves off — £7.00 for the aforementioned food and a can of coke — that can’t be right can it? Anyway, a good wee pit stop for a refuel with plenty of change from a tenner!
