The Broadway

The Broadway Theatre’s now reopened (as of 12^th of February 2011) and being run by StageLive.

Closed in 2008 following fire. As of Jan 2010 still closed.

Been closed due to a fire for quite some time. When it was open was a great venue.

This is a very classy place, with a good quality comfortable audotorium. My only quirk with it was the sound was a little strange and they dotn do enough showings of films.

I have only been here once but it was a good evening. The place was very clean, the seats are not too small like other theaters I have been in. We had a disabled person in our party and they were very accommodating. The food and drinks were reasonably priced. The show was run very well. There wasn’t a huge rush for the door at the end.
It is nice to see that this theatre has been brought back to life.

The Broadway Theatre is in a prime location in the centre of the town. Originally built as an Odeon cinema in 1937, the cinema closed in 1991 and stood idle for 6 years. It was purchased in 1997 and converted by a local entrepreneur into a theatre and art gallery, reopening as a 1,200 seat theatre in 2001.
The interior of the Auditorium has been tastefully modernised but retains some of its original Art Deco character. The colour schemes are primarily creams and browns and the seats are well spaced and comfortable. There is an upstairs Circle Foyer bar with a reasonable amount of seating and the bar staff were friendly and helpful.
I went to see the Australian Pink Floyd, a rock band, and band looked a little cramped on stage, but otherwise the performance and sound quality were both very good.
Nice small comfortable venue, recommended.
