I prefer to buy things from the British Red Cross wherever possible. They do the most amazing work in war torn areas around the world, and are led by such compassionate values that I totally trust their mission! They also take huge personal risks to protect and save the lives of others… really very commendable. Shopping at British Red Cross charity shops is always a pleasant experience as well. They tend to be modern, well laid out, and always stocked with some great stuff. There’s a number of charitable causes that I like to support, but I still always prefer to buy things from the British Red Cross wherever possible. This shop is particularly good for books and can be good for bric-à-brac and clothing as well. Prices are really reasonable, and the service is exceptional,(as it is at all of the British Red Cross charity shops). This is a great charity shop in anybodies book!

British Red Cross is located on Stanwell Road, in short walking distance of Penarth Railway Station, and one of three charity shops on this glorious stretch of road leading to the Washington Gallery. I was astounded by the amount of bags on offer at this particular British Red Cross. They were everywhere, stuffed into baskets, displayed on shelves, hanging on racks. Other items are sold here too, of course, including the expected ranges of bric-à-brac, clothing and books. The home wares on display were better than most shops I’ve been in, with pots and pans and white china all reasonably priced. This shop also carries Playstation and board games, in addition to a wide selection of Christmas cards. Younger children’s toys can be found on the back wall. Please note all summer stock is now half off.
