Specialties
We are part of the community and we pride ourselves on the fact that we are a small, independent café, with a friendly approach and where we know our customers. Many of our regulars are known by name and by what they drink, something you just won’t get in the major coffee shops in Summertown! Our staff are friendly, approachable and directly involved in the café making them more than just ‘employees’ but making them part of the team.
Selling the most wonderful coffee, speciality teas (all to drink in or takeaway), scrummy homemade cakes and fantastic paninis, sandwiches and salads, we’re the place to find locally sourced and hand made products where we know the ingredients and suppliers.
We have organic ice cream from a special cattle herd based only 40 miles away; you need to try it to believe it and its even nicer on hot waffles… HOT WAFFLES!
A range of soft drinks are available to both have in and take away.
History
Established in 2012.
Souths is named after South Parade, the street on which we reside. The name of the street has been open to interpretation for many years but the one we stick by is that in the English Civil War, the Parlimentarians, against the King (who held Oxford) rallied and camped at this site. As they marched from the North of the County, South Parade was the furthest south they ‘paraded’ prior to meeting the Royalists in Oxford. Equally, the Royalists marched North out of Oxford to North Parade, the furthest North they paraded!
