This hotel is in urgent need of extensive refurbishment. Peeling wallpaper, grimy threadbare armchairs and loose light fittings with blown bulbs can all be found without going any further than the reception desk! It was a Sunday evening and the restaurant was already closed when I arrived, tired and hungry at half past eight. This left only the bar for a meal, which I was gleefully informed would stop serving at nine. I rushed, I made it, the staff did not seem happy! The food however arrived promptly and was adequate, the square plate probably made it most memorable. The bar itself is uninspiring for a hotel such as this, if you are looking for some local brews to try I’m afraid you won’t find them here. The corridors to the first floor rooms have more of the ubiquitous loose light fittings and ceiling panels ready to fall down at a moments notice, whilst the rooms have beech effect flat pack furniture, foam matresses and pillows. Guests please note that the first floor walls are embarrasingly thin. Breakfast is best avoided unless you are pushed for time, an all day breakfast at the nearest supermarket would be much better value. Please also note that the first floor rooms have restricted access due to very narrow doorways, although I remember from a previous visit that there are some reserved rooms on the ground floor with wide entry, so if disabled access is needed ensure you ask when placing your booking. I shall surely not return until I hear some serious effort has been made to improve the level of accomodation offered by this hotel.

What can i say about this hotel? Attentive service, comfy rooms excellent food, reasonably priced. Even though the hotel is less than 5 miles from our front door we love this place, had our 1st honeymoon night there and have been back since for a romatic meal.
