Their coffee is beyond fairtrade and is roasted locally in Nottingham. They are an independent family business who use local suppliers and makes their own cakes on the premises. History

Established in 2012.

Hartleys opened on 4^th July 2012, Independance Day for an Independent Business. Hartleys is owned by Dawn & Kevin Hartley who previously owned Mozarts Restaurant from 2002 – 2006, which was an award winning restaurant on Wollaton Street, Nottingham. Dawn has a restricted diet, unable to have Gluten or Dairy in her diet, and found eating out at lunch time or for snacks inpossible, and realised that there was a gap in the market for one place that caters for all diets, not just specialist places for certain diets, such as Vegan Cafes that only cater for vegans etc. Dawn & Kevin wanted to create a place that caters for all people regardless of diet.

Business Owner

Dawn Hartley was born and grew up in Newark, but came to Nottingham when she was 17 years old and has worked in recruitment, administration and customer service work, along with running her own restaurant at the age of 21 — Mozarts Restaurant. Dawn also has Crohns Disease, Fibromyalgia and Raynauds Syndrome. Dawn is unable to eat Gluten, Dairy and red meat along with other ingredients that make her ill — so eating out can be difficult, which inspired her to open a day time coffee & sandwich bar that caters for every diet.
