History

Established in 2000.

After years of having trouble finding a great Norwich guitar teacher. In 2002, Ian finally setup Ian O’Brien Music and began teaching privately. Within a year he was teaching full time and by 2005 was turning students away, juggle his teaching with other commitments.

It was during this time Ian became a fully qualified music teacher taking the Music Education Program and a few successive teaching qualifications (PTTLS, CTTLS & DTTLS) which accumulated in accepting a teaching and consulting post for Access To Music, Norwich. But this point he’d become as enthusiastic about teaching music and the guitar as he had playing it and wanted to help more people to learn.

Over this time Ian kept having requests to teach new students but was just too busy. So finally in 2008 he began looking for the best instrument teachers in the Norwich area and creating a home for them to come together, learn from each other & share their knowledge & enthusiasm for teaching. The result is Ian O’Brien Music

Business Owner

A musician and music teacher. Ian O’Brien began teaching guitar in Norwich in early 2002. As well as teaching privately he also lectures and teaches guitar, composition and music performance at Access To Music –the music college in Norwich (yes that place Ed Sheerhan attended!). Until now he’s played in numerous bands and toured the UK and Europe several times. He’s also a keen songwriter and recently wrote and performed the soundtrack fo the McCoys sponsored Première League Darts Tournament in the UK.

He enjoys sharing his passion and enthusiasm teaching music as much as writing and performing it and can often often be found writing about the best ways to teach and learn musical instruments for his blog while drinking coffee in cafes.
