Coach & Horses

As this was my last stop on a solo pub crawl around Norwich, I was reasonably well boosted by the time I stopped in. Thankfully, I was more than coherent enough to enjoy my half pint of Chalk Hill Dreadnought (it’s a mild, and not to be confused with Dreadnaught, that imperial IPA from Three Floyds). The place was fairly busy on the Tuesday evening I patronised it, but the barwoman was quick to get me my sustenance. I think the value was pretty good. The ambiance was convivial. Given this pub’s proximity to the train station, it’s a good spot to check out if you are crunched for time, or to take in as your last stop before catching a train. Good pub.

The best pub in Norwich with friendly staff and a lively atmosphere.

There are three Coach and Horses in Norwich — this is the one right near the rail station and the Royal Mail sorting office. As such, it gets a decent after-​work crowd. Large screen TV means that the locals will be here cheering for Norwich or cheering for whomever is playing against Ipswich. On football nights, expect a big crowd so arrive early to get a table.
Several local brews available on tap and a few of the mass produced drafts too.
Very good food menu. I had a lamb steak with new potatoes that was just awesome. My dinner-​mate said his steak and Guinness pie was also excellent.
There are a few parking spaces in the front. I don’t know where you’ll find parking nearby if those are filled.
A regular go-​to place in Norwich, I recommend it highly!

This friendly pub has a great range of ales brewed on the premises at the chalk hill brewery. The all wood fixtures and fittings give a spit and sawdust feel but friendly competent staff and a legendary menu featuring the famous coach chips all add up to a great pub!
