I can not figure out this establishment at all. Having made a reservation for Mother’s Day I had to sadly cancel owing to my mother falling ill and having to be admitted to hospital. I courteously informed the establishment prior to the time we were expected. No problem as far as I was concerned. Last week I visited the place to book for a large gathering and was confronted by Bob owner manager I believe who told me I was not welcome and refused to take my booking. From previous experience with this place I can only assume it has become a mad house not a steak house. I have no idea why I was not able to book but only can assume the owners must think they are some sort of special reserve of only certain people. They are a most unusual restaurant I certainly will never spend my money here as I do not need them as much as they need customers. Maybe it’s my aftershave.

After all the raving about this place I was expecting great things to be honest. We were taken to our table by a very friendly waiter who pulled the chair out for me, gave us the menus and informed us who our waitress was — good start. So, we ordered our drinks and then the waitress(very friendly and polite) came back with the selection board of cuts of meat for us to chose what we wanted. We had already made up our mind so we asked for the Chateaubriand for us to share and cooked medium. We were given some dough bread and a dish of chimichurri to dip it in. To be honest the chimichurri is not my thing so I left the bread. The boyff are it all. Although I don’t know what this fad is with dough bread as I don’t see the appeal of eating something that basically tastes stale. Anyway… We were given our plates which were warm and then waiting a few minutes for our steak to turn up. It looked okay as it was handed to us, but as I took a piece I realised it was medium rare and not medium, so basically the middle part was still moo’ing. I waited, and waited and waited and waited to ask them just to cook it for two minutes longer just to bring it up to the medium that I asked for. Eventually we caught our waitress — the poor woman looked rushed off her feet — and asked her to ask the chef just to cook it a couple of minutes, which she agreed to immediately and was really lovely about it. However by this time my boyff had finished his entire dinner and I had munched my way through my chips. The chips were lovely though. I got my steak back sometime later and it was now medium well done, but that’s fine so I ate it. Whilst we were waiting to get my steak back we ordered some more drinks and they were wrong, but we drank them anyway. The toilets were just not what I thought they would be. They needed a blinking good mop and clean out. The toilet paper was that crappy really thin stuff and décor wasn’t all that at all, considering the type of place this is professing to be. They had a comment on the salt and pepper mills to «like Facebook» and then you’ll get a free complimentary gift. My boyff decided he would do this and — much to my horror — when he asked for this gift we were left standing at the front door like a pair of prats for ages, in the end as my cheeks were burning red we left the restaurant without the gift. The table that we were sat at was so close to the table next to us that I could see the make of the ladies watch, it was a bit awkward as you could hear everything each other were saying. On the other side it was where the waiters walk back and forth so I felt a bit stuck out and not very relaxed. The table was tiny too. So, a £55 steak that was undercooked and took ages to rectify, unimpressive toilets, not amazing. The steak was a good cut, and the waitress was brilliant to her credit. But, it’s an average steak place to be fair and not this off the scale restaurant people have said. It’s not that I would refuse to go back, but I certainly won’t be making an effort to. I would take a Gaucho over this place any day of the week.

The steak quality is amazing, if you’ve never been here before and fancy treating yourself it might be a good idea to try the sharing board that has 200g of each cut. The sides and cocktails are nice and the service is great. Great place for special occasions, but they also do a nice lunch menu! The chef used to work at gaucho, which I have now been to and honestly can say Lomito is so much nicer for steak quality. They could offer more sides I think, and desserts are quite limited, but as it’s quite a small place in comparison you get the benefit of really good service.

I went here on a Friday evening after reading the raving reviews below and expected much more than I got. The place was lacking in customers and atmosphere but was packed with staff. It’s a bit dark and even a little clinical. I was glad to see that the menu wasn’t seven pages long, but was brief and offered a decent range of steaks. However, I would have expected a few more fish and sea food options and more vegetables than chips. The mushroom starter(£6.00) and grilled gambas starter(£14.00) were really good but over priced. The 300g rib-eye steak(£25.00) was very good and cooked just how I wanted it, but again was expensive as it came with no vegetables or even a garnish. The rump churrasco(£22.00) was tough and the plate hadn’t been heated, so the steak was tepid by the time it reached the table. It was flavoursome though and was well seasoned. I was driving so couldn’t drink alcohol and found the £2.75 for a small coke a bit steep. I have no problem paying for quality and a good experience, but Lomito just wasn’t that exceptional.

We Have eaten at this restaurant on a number of occasions. The food is always very good but at West End prices it should be. Our one complaint is the Romanian waiter who has been a little too sarcastic and arrogant towards our guests on more than one occasion now. I did not want to complain at the time so as not to spoil the evening but this is something management should look in to.

I have enjoyed three occasions at this establishment and would thoroughly recommend it for its fabulous food, wonderful staff and above all, Nick Palmer, the owners son who is the most delightful welcoming guy. On my birthday he even sent a birthday desert with a sparkler on it. Attention to detail is his forte. Sadly on three occasions having made a booking, I have had to cancel. However I have always had the courtesy to inform them. Reason being that on each occasion it has been to take my 95 year old mum there, however her health has suffered and despite my optimism in getting her out, she has not been well enough. Right that was the good news, but sadly here is the bad news. On quite a few occasions I have popped in for one of there wonderful cocktails prepared by Paul, an expert in his art. The other day I popped in and so as to be sure as it was a busy Saturday, I asked the manager if it was ok to just have a cocktail and he told me it was ok. So far so good. In enjoying my cocktail I inadvertently placed my leg on the arm of a chair. The manager came over and ‘told me off’. As he returned by me I tried to get his attention to apologise, but being noisy he did not notice or hear me so, OMG, sin of sins, I clicked my fingers to attract his attention and all I got was an in my face strong and rude ticking off for clicking my fingers to attract his attention. Followed by, out of the blue a demand to finish my drink and leave. Naturally I questioned his actions upon which he proceeded to tell me I was improperly dressed anyway, yet he had seen how I was dressed when he told me it was fine to have a cocktail. Obviously I was not going to make a fuss but did tell him I was amazed at his over the top actions, to which he then accused me of being drunk and to add insult to injury told me I was now banned from future visits. It is all so sad as we had intended to book a family Christmas Sunday gathering this month however Mr and Mrs Palmer will lose that revenue. Thankfully, as was the impression I got from the manager, Lomito is not the only good restaurant in the area. We may be only a few customers and count for nothing and the lack of my custom will never affect Lomito, but all it takes is word of mouth to spread. It takes a long time to gain a good reputation, but easily lost in a short time I would still recommend Lomito, but be warned, the manager, in the white shirt puts himself first before his customers. Sadly Nick will have to stand by his manager and be loyal, however loyalty to customers would be so nice along with an apology. Lomito is Great restaurant only ruined by one bad manager who gives one the impression he owns the place and also you. He must have issues and I am not one of them I assure you
