I have to review this on the basis that it has been taken over by Simla, like The Spice Club in Torquay
This used to be one of our favourite Indian restaurants ever so far in the UK, until it was taken over Simla. After that it was never the same and is poorer for it.
They used to be really good and attentive but judging by the last review they’ve let it go.
A real shame.

My regular Naz indian was not open on Sunday lunch so we went to Safron instead. We ordered by phone for collection at lunchtime Sunday.
They had 2hrs but still they waited till we arrived before starting so we had to wait 20 mins. They over charged us by £1. The food was ugly and watery tasting. We spent £20 but threw it away as it wasnt worth eating. They forgot the rice and then denied we ordered it. The owner /manager was a rude ignorant pig of a man. Avoid at all costs as its always emty for good reason, go to NAZ which is always excellent!

A very nice indian, situated next to the eastern eye its biggest rival by far. My boyfriend and i decide to get a takeaway from saffron as the interior isnt very pleasant and have a sit down meal in the eastern eye a few doors up. On Tuesday evenings saffron do any main, any dessert and naan bread for £9 or £ 11. This shop is situated in the main row of the takeaways on the corner and over looks the war memorial, wouldnt say they are child friendly but its a bargain for a takeaway

Saffron was opened a few years ago much to some people dis belief due to the fact that the best indian in newton abbot is only 5 doors away (eastern eye), but despite this saffron has flourished due to its tuesdays night meal which is a bargain at around £11, starter, main, rice.
bargain price for top quality food.
