As with all Wetherspoons you get what you expect cheap booze and low cost meals. Sadly I have to use the phrase ‘you get what you pay for’ in regards to the food. We recently had an brunch here and sadly it was disappointing. The bacon had clearly been cooked on a dirty grill as there were grill lines with sticky /burned residue left on it. The chips tasted like they had been cooked in old /dirty fat as there was a funny flavour on them. Although this is a ‘cheap n cheerful’ place I still expect anywhere that serves food to be clean and for the food to be cooked in a clean kitchen. The restaurant was also grubby– sticky floors, tables not cleared and cleaned very quickly. When it comes to this Wetherspoon– only go there for what they are well known for-cheap booze.

I’m a regular at this pub/bar. I like going in there either in the day or in the night. it’s quieter in the day than at night. The choice of food and drink is good and it’s reasonably priced so it’s a great place to start your night out. The day time is nice because as I said, it’s somewhat quiet and you can hear yourself think. There are a lot of men in there at that time which may be intimidating for some but there’s no need to be intimidated. They won’t bother you. The staff are friendly and they are always professional so you shouldn’t have any problems with any of the staff there. The night time is almost always busy. For some it can cause claustrophobic feelings but it isn’t too bad as the atmosphere makes up for it. You’re better off getting in early if you want to get a seat and if you want to avoid the hassle of being asked for identification so I would advise you to take some form of ID as you might be asked at the bar as well as on the door. This is more likely at night. Overall, it’s a great place and it’s close to the station so you can make time to have something to eat/drink before getting your train.

Similar to the other branches of Wetherspoon around the country; a long room with a bar halfway along and lots of 2 or 4 seat tables and chairs. Quite comfortable and fairly well spaced and carpeted, no background music(which is usually a blessing). The bar staff seemed quite friendly and pleasant. A wide range of beers including Guinness and a good menu — several vegetarian options too. Very close to the station so handy for a drink or meal before catching a train.
