Went in and brought a lot of Christmas gifts, the staff on many occasions were lovely, but when i had a damaged gift and took my receipt in and tried to explain it to the Manger in the New Milton Branch, who had an Irish Accent, that my item purchased just 3 days before was damaged in transit. This manager had made the decision not to give me an exchange even before I had the chance to show her the item before I cam up to the till, I was NOT only was I not allowed to exchange the gift for another i was not listened to explaining exactly what happened. I have been in retailing for 30 years and would not have treated my customers like I was treated by this member of staff, it is not showing goodwill at all and I was made to feel that I had deliberately damaged the item myself which I had certainly not, I had already spoken to some very helpful members of staff the day before explaining about the the damaged item and they told me just bring it in and we will exchange it for another item. I now feel so uncomfortable going into this store when this manager is there I will go in and shop there on days she is not to make sure I have good customer service in a welcome store I deserve to shop in as a paying customer in future. This experience just upset me more once I had come away from the shop and especially a memory as it was my birthday that I want to forget.
