Another excellent meal at Kasa Rosa this lunchtime. All four of us had the«Pasta 81» which was delicious. Service, as ever, was perfect.

When I reviewed Cucina a few years ago I made a big deal of that fact that high end dining was a novelty in Morley. Well those days, thankfully, are past and Kasa Rosa is evidence of the new sophistication of my old home town. I went for lunch with an old friend and was immediately impressed by the friendliness of the waiter. We were warmly welcomed and felt at home right away. We had the tapas, which were consistently authentic and delicious, and of course a couple of glasses of wine. Throughout the meal the service was pitch perfect; friendly and attentive but not overbearing. My only concern was that we were there for a late lunch and were one of two couples in the place. For us noise was not an issue but I can imagine that with a full house it would be a tad noisy. This was because the cleanliness of the décor is achieved with a minimum of soft(sound absorbing) surfaces. I also saw one reviewer mention it was too bright in the evening and hopefully the owners take note, lower the lights(and their electricity bill!) I would also love to see the management add a small«cocktail pit» of couches and comfortable chairs where people could linger before or after a meal. However all in all I give Kasa Rosa high marks for doing so much so well. A great place for a casual, yet delicious dining experience.

This place was highly recommended but I’m not entirely sure how I feel about the overall experience, firstly the place is too brightly lit for my liking, a restaurant should be ambient(in my mind), but this was more like dining in the Ikea lighting department. Secondly the menu was confused, is this a Tapas restaurant i.e. Spannish, or is it an Italian? there is also French used on the menu. The waiters were attentive, but more in a bad comedy style, I did overhear what I would call«inappropriate» joking with the next table(2 women). The drinks took an age to arrive, and had to be asked for again. However the food wasn’t half bad, and that’s really the main draw for a restaurant, the hake was delicious, as was the pasta dish(forget what exactly it was). The restaurant was very busy for a Wednesday night, so they can be forgiven for having some dishes unavailable, I did think it was slightly pricey for the location and the fare on offer, but all in all well cooked and reasonably interesting choices. IF I go again it will be for the Tapas, but I’m still undecided if there will be a next time, if I could I’d award 2.5 stars, 2 seems mean, 3 a tad generous.

Kasa Rosa was suggested after meeting up with some friends in Morley, and really being far too lazy to plan something to cook, we decided to embark on Kasa Rosa due to a recommendation from a friend of a friend. Pulling up and you automatically judge. It looks like you’re stepping up to someone’s house as opposed to a restaurant, and if it wasn’t for the small sign above the door you wouldn’t be wrong in thinking you were intruding on someone’s family dinner. Family is the key word there, you push open the door and you’re greeted by a smiley face ready to seat you and brief you on the menu, also informing you that if you have any allergies or if there’s a fussy face in your party they will do their best to accommodate, omit or offer alternative ingredients to your order. Good starts. We ordered a selection of Tapas all with prices starting from £2.50 up to £4.50 for the meatier options, and when the portions came out we weren’t disappointed, we ordered about ten I recall for 4 of our hungry monkey selves, and it certainly filled a void. Lovely atmosphere and you definitely benefit from the relaxed and well oiled machine nature of the family run business. The wine selection would please the fussiest of consumers, as it is definitely extensive. Looking through the rest of the menu, there’s a good selection of grill dishes, pasta and pizzas to be had. Definitely worthy of a dip in if you’re in the area.

How refreshing it is to find nice and friendly family run businesses in an ever increasing world of corporate take over’s and chain stores. Oh to have that personal touch without compromising quality. Well I think I may be onto something and it’s Kasa Rosa. In the heart of Morley, it’s a warm welcome place and the staff are very friendly. It’s a combination of Mediterranean cuisines all fused together using local fresh ingredients and going big on the taste. The anti pasta choice is quite simply delicious. Try some seafood, the homemade breads or pates or deep fried brie. The pasta kicks some real flavour too and although the pizza selection isn’t massive, they are a more than pleasant option. It’s the tapas that is a real winner though. Lots to choice from and a real authentic tasting selection of Spain, all brought with a smile and a glass of vino. Bliss. The wine list is also a pleasant surprise with a good range of quality reds, whites and even sparkling. I didn’t expect to find such a well oiled machine here but I’m glad I did.
