Odeon

I’m not a fan of cramming too many people into one place, 25 minute long queues and paying more than the cost of a meal for two on popcorn.
The idea of going out to the cinema on a Friday night to see the latest top flick (Scott Pilgrim) seemed downright foolish. We’re so used to going to the Cineworld that we forgot about the Odeon, until we searched online and it popped up.
And I’m so glad we did.
We booked online — you don’t need to — we could have strolled in, bought tickets, bought nibbles and have been sat down within four minutes. The tickets themselves were cheaper than Cineworld (£8.60 adult), the food cheaper (combos started from £5) and the seats luxurious — no sticky floors. There were just four of us in the screen (which had a great sound system) so it was like a private screening compared to the cattle truck that Cineworld can be.
I felt bad for the Odeon — overshadowed by the Cineworld — but it had an independent cinema feel about it despite being a chain and I know where we’ll be going in the future.

If you want to visit a cinema that’s cheaper than cineworld this is it. They also do cheap night tuesdays and its cheaper than cineworlds yet again.
Its not quiet as glam or polished as cineworld and the cinema can be very quiet — not a bad thing in my books.
It is lost behind the big triangle point and there is loads of parking around it — which leads to the deserted atmosphere. But if its cheap you want this is it.

i used to visit this cinema all the time when i was younger especially for the cheap weekend cinema days it was amazing they used to have an arcade in there too. it is pretty much dead in there now no one seems to go to this cinema anymore.
I thought when stelios bought the cinema it was going to fly and there were going to be hundreds of people visiting but that didnt happen we just seemed to have an eye sore bright orange cinema building that no one wanted to visit. probably just because the city now has the cineworld a short walk away which is more up to date and has a better atmosphere, i mean i certainly prefere to go to cineworld than the odeon infact i havnt been in there for years i just walk past it and thats about it. Im not even sure if theyre open at all any more.

This end of Milton Keynes would have made an ideal location for 28 days later, there was barely a soul around on Wednesday night!
I found the cinema huddled behind a bizarre pyramid of empty shops near a bus station, not far from the glitzy new addition to the MK shopping centre. I got my ticket and then hot dog that was to be my tea. There were 2 dogs on the roller cooker, and I think mine had been there for ages as it took a bit of biting! A bit like an inner tube stuffed with imitation meat, still the ketchup/​mustard combo gave it and the bread some flavour.
I went to see Ghost Town with Ricky Gervais, and not only was I almost the only person in the place, when I came out, the walk back to my hotel was eerily devoid of people. The Cinema is lost in it’s location. and I believe there is a newer more glam model somewhere else in the surrounding area, which means this Odeon is going to go the way of alot of others. It didn’t feel particularly safe either with no other businesses nearby.
Verdict: Grim
