We went last night and promised myself I would write a short review on our experience. As a couple looking for something different and me loving Chinese and my partner loving Indian the silk road was the perfect answer. The food was fresh and hot the chicken was perfectly cooked and rice fluffy and light. The service was friendly and fast even though it was packed and the atmosphere was great with so many Christmas parties. It was my first time there and not my last. Well done!

I ate here having stayed at the Travelodge next door and I would on a whole recommend it. The menu caters for most tastes and has a decent selection of fish, meat and vegetarian options.
Those who like to immerse themselves in a particular genre may find The Silk Road a little disappointing. The menu offers a bit of Indian and a bit of Thai but not loads of either. If you’re wanting the whole experience you should look elsewhere. If you are happy with an Eastern selection you’ll be ok here.
I started with the chicken tikka which while tasty did arrive far to quickly to have been cooked fresh and had the texture of pre-​cooked and reheated chicken. Presentation was a let down with a few leaves and some carrot on the side.
For my main I had the lamb chops which were served in a sizzling cast iron dish — a touch I always like. 4 decent sized chops with a rich sauce were well received although personally I felt they were in need of a touch of salt.
All in all, I’ll probably be back as the prices are very good for what you get. My only criticism would be the music — I’ve still not quite worked out where along the Silk Road they picked up the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. Hungry eyes anyone?

The menu offers a large selection of dishes, maybe too large. The food was good but not in anyway special.
The service was unpleasant, I felt rushed to order, the waiter seem to struggle understanding us (a table of 4) but then the service was slow.
The music was very loud which made it difficult to hold a normal conversation.
I cannot recommend it.

The Silk Road is a Pan Asian Restaurant which means that it caters for fans of Indian, Chinese and Thai food.
The menu consists of 3 types of cuisine so it may take a while to make a decision. There are all the usual Indian, Chinese and Thai dishes as as some specialities.
The difference with this restaurant, is that you are not restricted to just one cuisine, you can mix and match as much as you like. It would be a good place to go when you have problems on deciding what place to eat which accomodates different tastes.
The food was tasty and well presented. Although a little out of the way — this place is worth a visit. The staff were friendly and attentive.
