Steven James Guitar & Amp Centre is a one stop music store with an on site Licensed Music bar/​Coffee Shop, Established by renowned luthier and Dogs D’Amour bassist, Steven James.

With a huge collection of, Electric Guitars, Acoustic guitars, Bass Guitars, Guitar Amplifiers, Effects, Pedals and Accessories we are the North East’s premier music location for all of your music needs.

We also offer a repair service from refrets to headstock repairs, Floyd Rose setups etc, and a comprehensive range of vintage guitars, bass guitars and bass amps.

I’d like to offer you a personal welcome to our website and as your kind enough to read about our background, I’d like to share the reasons I created my ideal concept of a guitar and music centre. I opened the doors to Steven James Guitars in November 2006 after 10 insightful years managing the Guitar department of one of the UK’s Leading Guitar and Instrument stores. Whilst there I learned a great deal about the needs of our customers and how the industry can best serve them. I made it my goal to provide the best, most individual service possible. I had many ideas I wanted to take further so I decided to return back to my home town and create the kind of music shop that I wished had been available to visit and hang out in when I was a professional musician. I wanted to create a store that had a great range of stock, great repair facilities and would make me welcome to browse, chat and play as well as buying!

I’d like to share the reasons I created my ideal concept of a guitar and music centre.
