Zinc Bar & Grill

We went to Zinc for a meal last night.
We ordered a lemonade and an orange drink. We were given and coke and an orange drink. The drink was quickly swapped for the right one.
Specials were read hurridly. We ordered the lamb shank and a ribeye steak med-​rare with parley sauce; we were given the lamb shank and a sirloin steak medium with parsley sauce. The manager cleared the plates and the bill was brought over.
The lamb shank was delicious, very tender and juicy. Sadly we were given the wrong order twice and no one came over to check back.

Went for evening meal with my g/​f and found the place to be very stylish with comfortable surroundings. I had the soup of the day with bread to start with and then the fillet steak cooked medium with a red wine sauce and potatoes. The service was a little slow, however the food was good.

We ate here on a Friday evening in July 2010. Had a selection of meals including the starter platter selection and all were good without being outstanding. As I write this review 3 days later I cannot remember any of the other courses and that pretty well sums up the experience, nothing unsatisfactory but nothing stunning either! Price for 4 with drinks and excluding a tip was £111 and to be fair that was reasonable in the centre of Manchester where I have paid a great deal more elsewhere, but I have also eaten better and paid less. In summary, service Ok (but 1 of the orders was wrong that they did offer to replace), food OK, venue OK, but not planning a return visit anytime soon.

Went there on a recent Sunday afternoon as it was the only place that had a table free outside. Was with the parents too so didn’t want to expose them to some of the usual haunts in the Northern Quarter. We had a couple of drinks which seemed reasonably enough priced given the location. The food however is ridiculously overpriced for what it is. We split the Asian platter and while it was tasty enough, there really wasn’t enough there to justify the 12 quid price tag.
A place for the parents or perhaps client meetings or work dos where the company picks up the tab, but there are better places to go on a Sunday afternoon.

I went there for lunch yesterday. I was really looking forward to it, but it was a disaster!
My friend ordered the steak sandwich, which was like shoe leather, but with less flavour — at £9.50 for the pleasure.
I ordered the king prawn linguine, at £10.50, which came with two whole prawns. It was actually quite tasty, but I couldn’t eat more than a couple of mouthfulls as we were being constantly dive-​bombed by flies. It was gross.
The manageress admitted they were aware of the infestation and were working on it, but still made me pay for a meal that I couldn’t eat and, even worse, had to go elsewhere and pay again for.
I couldn’t even finish my beer as it had suicidal fly bodies floating in it.
I would have gone back to try it again when the infestation was sorted if they had been less cheap about sorting it.
Seriously, no stars.

good place to have a drink if your out shopping or nipping into pizza express, gets bit too busy on a night especially as m.e.n around the corner and printworks over the road
be warned it is very pricey though!

I’ve been here a couple of times for a pizza and it has always been a lovely experience. The atmosphere is always great and the service is friendly. As for the food, I’ve only ever had pizza but they were certainly very tasty.

I have been here for cocktails and it was lovely!

As a restaurant this place is amazing the food is tasty the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is amazing, however as a bar the place decidely lacks the drinks are expensive compared to the local area and the limited space makes it difficult to be heard on a busy night

In my opinion, although it is a really nice place, i find the drinks in Zinc painfully expensive! I bought a round of drinks consisting of a glass of white wine and a bottled beer which cost £9.80 which is a bit steep really! The place itself is nice and modern, it has a really contemporary feel to it, and there is always a great atmosphere on a friday and saturday night. It is open in the afternoons so if youve had enough shopping its great to grab a cocktail and something to nibble on! Although i have not personally tried the food, i know it comes recommended.

Zinc Bar and Grill is expensive. The drinks are expensive. The food is expensive. Other than this, I would recommend the Zinc Bar and Grill as being an excellent restaurant. The steak, as one might expect, is particularly good. Service can be a little mixed though; it can vary from slightly over-​attentive to intrusive. The last time I went I had to wait for quite some time for my order, apologies were given which was appreciated, but I couldn’t help but feel that a tad more sincerity would have made me feel better. Nonetheless, the food when it did turn up was decent and the general atmosphere was fine. Possibly a good date venue.

Zinc isn’t cheap but it’s really cool and the food is lovely– i have huge mushrooms stuffed with stiltion and spinach– gorgeous. the red wime list is also great. it is situated in a very trendy part of manchester– next to the Traingle.

Loved the food and service here, great menu choice with daily specials. Friendly atmosphere and always busy, great for lunchtimes.
Also as in the city centre close to Harvey Nic’s its ideal for a shop and eat day out… Good wine too.
