Cracking little traditional pub in the centre of town. Great range of beers and ales to sample. We usually start off here if we ever go on the ale trail to Huddersfield. Great place to meet up and get into the swing of things before crossing the road and getting straight on the train.

The Bulls Head is a great neighborhood pub. We were there last week on vacation and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Great selection of beer on tap. People at the bar were very friendly and open to great conversation with people they did not yet know. This place makes you feel welcome and at home. I recommend this place for drinks.(we did not eat here so we can’t rate the food) Next time we visit Manchester we will go here again ! John and Mike from Chicago

In Manchester on business and staying at the MacDonald down the street which is a stone’s throw from Bull’s Head. Tons of beers on cask to pick from but I went classic Guinness to start. The bartender shared with me that she made the night’s special of Shepherd’s Pie so I went for it. It was FANTASTIC and just what my jet lagged body needed to start this week.

Home made pie!!! OK its a bit of an old bloke pub and the beer isn’t cheap but the food is good value and yummy. I had the curry, which was much better then a normal pub curry, Himself had burger which he liked and Dad had pie which home made and came with your very own gravy boat. Dad said it was tasty, little heavy on the pepper. The chips are hot and home made too and the staff were lovely and helpful. Good selection of beer and wine. I could only see one gin in the back bar but I’m a gin fuss pot.

Because of The Star and Garter’s odd choice of not opening until the gig starts(You’re a pub with thirsty MetalHeads stood outside for upto an hour, you do realise how much money you lost in that hour?) We were forced to wet our whistle elsewhere, and a quick check on the app showed that The Bulls Head was the nearest, so head there we did. It is always nice to go into a pub that has a good mix of clientel, and this was one of them, a smattering of regular looking folk? Check, a few suit and ties having a swift one after work? Check, and on this particular evening 2 Metalheads after a nice drop of ale. We both had a pint of Boon Doggle on draft(They have a really good selection), which went down a treat, as did the pub itself, it is a really nice place that I will certainly go back too the next time that i’m not able to get my drink on before a gig. Good stuff

Hello, and welcome to Manchester! I see you’ve just gotten off the train. You look a little tired. Tired, buddy? You need a pick-me-up. It’s been a long trip, hasn’t it? Okay, well you’re in luck — go out to the taxi exit. Now, wait, don’t get in a taxi — not yet. You deserve a beer. Look right in front of you. Right there! There’s The Bull’s Head. A small pub with lots of character, Bull’s Head provides a friendly smile and a good pour with cheap(but quality) beers. I’ve never been here for the grub, but the drinks are fair and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. It’s positioned in perfect placement for anyone going to or from the station looking to have a few with some mates.

This pub does the traditional pub look very well. What it did better than I expected was the beer range. Marston’s pubs while offering a few beers can sometimes feel a bit limited in choice, but there were a fair few options. Not that I could bring myself away from the Single Hop Cascade. I’ve come across a few Single Hop beers recently and really enjoyed them all, so I expected a lot when I finally caught them actually using my favourite hop of all. And I was not in the least bit disappointed. Deliciously crisp. A hen night turned up, all wearing monogramed nicknames on their outfits. Some of them warranted further investigation but I didn’t have enough single hops inside me for that!

I went here within the first week of moving to Manchester. The bartender was so nice, but the food was nothing special. Every other time I’ve tried to go here it’s been closed for a ‘regulars’ night of something of the sort…

Congratulations are in order! The Bull’s Head has made it into the Good Pub Guide published by CAMRA(Campaign for Real Ale, friend of my locals the Crescent, New Oxford and King’s Arms). Many say that this pub would get a lot more custom if it wasn’t on the ‘wrong side’ of Piccadilly Station as it were. However this does mean that it gets a nice eclectic clientele, including office suits at lunchtime which often suggests quality food(smart types are picky about their food, I’ve met plenty of them). The food itself is your hearty, tasty pub grub from upmarket peppery steak pies and gammon and eggs to sirloin steaks and corned beef hash. The chips are particularly nice. The beers include the Marston’s standard Burton, Pedigree and specials like Long Hop, as well as many festival ales such as Everard’s, Brains and Ringwood’s. Down to earth, upbeat and friendly staff serve the pub’s varied customers, creating a jovial and relaxed atmosphere. Certainly a worthy addition to the guide.

A lovely, friendly old-fashioned pub in a pretty location — we had a tasty lunch today, then walked it off around nearby Ogden Reservoir. These days it comes as a real surprise to get REAL chips and our daughter wolfed down her chicken nuggets which were also homemade — Jamie Oliver would approve! Will definately return and have a proper meal next time not just butties.

This is a great little pub, located in a very picturesque setting. It is tucked away, off a small/narrow road — so it is easy to miss! There is a car park, which can accomodate several cars.(you will need transport to get to this place). This pub has a very warm, homely feel to it. You will receive a friendly welcome. The décor is ‘old world’ style, but its suits the environment its located in. There is a great menu, which specialises in ‘home-made cooking’ Rag Puddings, Cheese & Onion/Meat Pieto name just a few — and the portions are large. There are also, a lovely selection of ‘home-made’ sweets, too. …The trifle is delicious! The prices are reasonable, considering the portion size/quality. It is also, located near several of the local Reservoirs — which enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding area. It is a great place to go for a walk & then a bite to eat.
