Having an ever so slight hangover I needed some form of greasy fry up without venturing to far away from my house, if I’d have given it a little more thought I might have gone to wetherspoons. The food was cooked adequately and brought to me quickly. All in was average, but the staff were really really lovely.

This Sainsbury’s Café is located inside the rather large Fallowfield store, across the opposite exit to the car park, and near enough directly opposite Weather-spoons and Starbucks, so for hot beverages and food, they is some nearby competition, which can always be expected from a store close to the city center. The café is quite small compared to other Sainsbury’s Café’s I have seen in both Heaton Park and Oldham, which are both large stores as well, but is still a reasonable size. The menu was quite clear, however the selection of iced drinks in the fridge was very limited, and what was there was very expensive, so is both poor on both the range and pricing, especially when compared to their Café at Heaton Park Sainsbury’s. I ordered Ham, Egg and Chips for £5 after looking at the gluten free menu and learning the chips are fried on their own, hence making them gluten free. The price was a little expensive, but still on par with the same meal at Tesco Café, I found it to taste quite poor, although the eggs were quite nice and the chips were poor /average, I found the ham to taste fatty, cheap and simply low quality, which helped to ruin the meal, as it simply tasted like they had got something from the Sainsbury’s Basics range and stuck it on my plate, which made me feel like £5 was a little too expensive. David, who served me seemed nice and helpful, although he was unable to scan my nectar card at the till, as it wouldn’t swipe being a key fob, which is unusable as it scans fine at tills, so is either a problem with their system in the Café or with Nectar themselves. Overall, this is a below average café and if you are looking for a café, the great Starbucks across the way would probably be your best bet for coffee, and possibly Weather-spoons across the way for food, and this simply remains a quick place to grab something when shopping, and nothing else which is disappointing really.
