Nectar Bistro

I really like Nectar Bistro, the staff are lovely and the food is even better. This is the kind of place where you order 3 plates each and then share them. To be fair I don’t think we consider the mains unless you can share these too, it is the nature of good Lebanese Mezza food. I really enjoyed the Falafel and Loubieh Bil Zait.
Certainly will be back soon.

One of my favourite and affordable Chorlton restaurants.
Visited a few times recently, it deserved a review because:
1) it’s a friendly, family run place who told me the history behind the dish I was eating — not just slapped on a plate and microwaved!
2) it’s BYO — always makes for an affordable meal out
3) it was delicious and can compete with the nearby competitors.
If you are unsure give this one a go and you won’t regret it.

My very first Lebanese meal was much better than I thought it was going to be. Though the Nectar Café’s exterior resembles that of a coffee shop and its interior might not make you feel as though you’ve stepped from one of Chorlton’s main roads into a Middle Eastern oasis, it was smart and clean yet still cosy.
The owners were very welcoming, dashing to the kitchen to get glasses for us almost as soon as we sat down (you can bring your own alcohol here — massive winner!).
As there was a group of us we decided to each order from the mezza i.e. starter menu, for us all to share and then a main course of our own. We opted for plates of ‘Babaghanouj’ (mashed aubergine mixed with olive oil and seasonings), grilled Hallumi cheese, ‘Sujok’ (grilled spicy lamb sausages) and two servings of Moussakah with warm pitta bread. All the dishes were scrummy.
For the main I went for their ‘Mixed Mashawi’ — chunks of chicken breast, lamb meat cubes and minced lamb in spices, on onion and summak with garlic sauce. There was just enough to leave you comfortably full and satisfied.
For £15 each (not including the drinks we brought) this place is fantastic value for money.
