On a long train journey the last thing I want to do if I’m a little hungry is spend about a gazillion pounds on food from the train buffet car. If you’re travelling from Manchester and you’ve got a spare minute before your train, nip to Marks and Spencer food up on the first floor. All the sandwiches are as cheap as the Smiths ones but way better. I really love Marks and Spencer food, especially the duck wrap. And also those crisps that come in lots of different shapes. Win.

What’s a girl to do when she arrives in Manchester and has the munchies? Head to M&S of course and stock up on their divine chocolate covered brazil nuts and chocolate covered raisins. I would offer to share them but alas, they’ve already gone!

I hate myself for this four-star review! I’m not a fan of Marks and Spencer, they annoy the hell out of me! The adverts drive me crazy, how on earth can a shop be sooooo pretentious?! Aarrrrrghhh! But I like this little food shop in Piccadilly, it’s another place that’s open after 4pm on a Sunday so that works in it’s favour, I usually run in whilst someone waits in the short stay car park outside! I hate to admit how good the food is. For ages I wouldn’t shop here because the adverts wound me up too much. I only caved after my mum bought the meal for two deal for us one night when everyone else was out. It was amazing. The pudding particularly. So I wandered in one day on my way through town and picked up another for me and my housemate… and so the addiction began. The prices aren’t cheap but you would never expect them to be. It’s not great for every night but if you treat it like a takeaway, it’s not bad at all.

Just a small Marks and Sparks but big enough for you to spend all your spare change in… and more. I nip in here to get a sandwich when getting the train and I end up filling a basket. I understand you are catering to the modern city commuter Piccadilly I do… but understand this: every tenner I spend here on is a tenner less that I will spend on the train.

This isn’t the usual way to waste time and money because your train is late AGAIN, this is the M&S way waste time and money because your train is late AGAIN. Don’t worry, it’s Christmas soon– those overly produced, nostalgia heavy ads will soon make everything OK.
