Friendly neighbourhood, fun clientele, good range of drinks, reasonable (£3.60 for a g&t) decent tunes and its open late!

Friendly little neighbourhood bar with a casual vibe and a great ever changing selection of real ales. I plumped for a German wheat beer which they had on tap and it was blinking delicious. Didn’t sample the food as we were heading into the city centre for dinner after a few drinks. I confess I was reluctant to leave Electrik having made myself right at home in one of the cosy booths. Family friendly earlier in the evening, Electric stays open later at weekends than fellow local bars. Seating available outside. Free WiFi.

Came here for cheeky drinks after work having never been before.
The bar staff are friendly and have a huge range of, ales, lagers, wines and ciders on offer.
We plumped for a bottle of prosecco which wasn’t too expensive at £19 a bottle!
Mix of clientele here some cool hipsters but then also some older boozer type guys… interesting.
They need sort out the lights in the toilets they are way too dark!
They did also have mulled wine for £3.00 which seemed reasonable.
Nice atmosphere though nothing ground breaking really… Not sure I would rush back here

I’ve been going to Electrik on and off now for a few years and tbh it all seems to be a bit tired now. There’s nothing massively wrong with this place, it just doesn’t seem that forward thinking and when we popped in for a pint last week I wished we’d made the effort to go somewhere a bit fresher.
The beers on selection were ok but we ended up just going for a pint of Jaipur as that looked the best from the offering and it didn’t taste as good as I’ve had it in other venues around Manchester, just very gassy which wasn’t massively what I get from it usually.
We sat outside on the small terrace and enjoyed some fresh air while chatting but there wasn’t loads to make me think I must rush back as it was pretty dead on this Saturday night at 8pm.

Electrik is probably my favourite bar in Chorlton after Marble’s Beerhouse. Its owners were a DJ team in the mid 1990s with a Manchester club night called ‘Electric Chair’, from which the bar gets its name.
There’s an easy-​going vibe here, almost homely in a way — and it’s much more spacious than you’d think, with low lighting and predominantly wooden décor. The staff are welcoming and friendly. I’m getting bored of the name ‘hipsters’ now, but you’ll definitely spot a fair few in here; generally though there’s a nice mix of folks having a drink and enjoying the tunes.
They’ve always got a great selection of beers and the couple of times I’ve eaten in, the food has been really good, so no wonder it’s an incredibly popular place. It’s also known for its cake selection on the bar, so if you’re still peckish after your meal have a wander over and buy a slice of something delicious.
Some nights you’ll struggle to find a seat if you arrive later on. When conditions are right, they open their bi-​fold doors and have extra seating outside. A steadfast bar that’s stood the test of time (well, since 2009, but that’s ages nowadays).

I just love Electrik not only is it a superb bar that plays a great soundtrack it also serves an amazing Sunday lunch. In fact one of the best Sunday lunches I have had in a long time. I went for the veggie option which was butternut squash stuffed with roasted veg and feta. It was delicious and tasty. The accompaniments were also outstanding, the roasties, mash, red cabbage and cauliflower cheese all tasted fab and the Yorkshire pud and veggie gravy were divine. The meat versions also looked fab, the sharing board was massive and included roast beef, crackling, chicken ad pulled pork. Can’t recommend Electrik enough for Sunday lunch.

I was here on Sunday for a roast and it was so very good! I shared a board for £24 with my friend. This had roast beef, pulled pork, crackling, roast chicken, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, cabbage, parsnips, bacon wrapped chipolatas, stuffing, Yorkshire puddings and (crucial) enough gravy. A roast beef dinner is £12.50 so this sharing actually saves you money, result! Every part of the roast was spot on, we both said it was one of the best roasts we’ve ever had. We told the waiter this and he said its one of the top fifteen in the north west on buzzfeed. Plus it’s at the bottom of my road, to be honest this was the main reason we went here as I was pretty hungover! I’m glad I finally did.
The only bad thing was there was so much food we had to have a plan of attack and take it in stages so some of it cooled off. Plus there was so much food I felt like Henry VIII! We tried but we just couldn’t finish it so the super lovely waiter put the rest in tinfoil and made a bird out of it too! Not sure it comes across well in the photo but I liked the time he’d taken to do it :)
It’s a really cosy bar to drink in too so we had to slowly convince ourselves to leave. Only to return again I’m sure!

Despite its prominent location on Wilbraham Road, Electrik has consistently slipped under my radar. My friend and I were walking past on our way to The Post Box for some lunch when I was lured in by a sign proclaiming they had a new seasonal menu. I felt like this was a good sign. (Get it?!? Moving on…)
Everything on the menu looked delicious, with interesting choices you don’t necessarily see everywhere. While there I bumped into a work colleague and his partner who told me that they’d just been to another nearby bar but found that there was next to nothing on the menu to suit their newfound vegetarian diets. Electrik on the other hand is offering a range of interesting options including many which are meat-​free.
My friend and I settled on a meat and cheese sharing platter. Two types of cured meat, blue cheese, strong cheddar, potted pork, mozzarella balls and sundried tomatoes, chutneys, pickles, bread, the works. We ordered more bread to go with it and we weren’t charged for it, which was lovely. Maybe in future they’ll offer more bread as standard because there is a lot going on on this board and it’s always a bit sad when you run out of bread.
There were no weak links on the platter. Everything was delicious, particularly the blue cheese and the potted pork. However don’t be fooled into thinking that sharing a board will be a ‘light bite’ — we were stuffed!
Service was great with one noteable exception. I went to the bar to choose a beer, ordered it, and returned to my seat. Moments later a staff member comes over to double check what it was that I wanted. What I asked for was Dark Arts by Magic Rock. If you’ve had it before you will know that this is a very dark stout. So I was a bit puzzled when they eventually presented me with a pint of light, golden ale. At this point I really couldn’t be bothered to ask for the beer I wanted a third time so I just shut up and drank it. It was nice. Maybe they realised their mistake because it wasn’t on the bill.
Overall I had a lovely time at Electrik and will certainly head back soon!

So although the Electrik’s food is very good, the service was a bit slow and also the music in the early evening was far to loud not allowing for conversation easily. I really do like it as a venue, although did get a couple of strange looks when we moved chairs so that we could all sit together (there were 7 of us). Their sweet potato fries were yum. At time it did feel a little passive aggressive, but maybe that is our fault for going in the early evening on a Saturday.

Electrik is the kind of place i like to spend an evening out with friends drinking rum and cider (for me… maybe ale for you), but also a chilled place to hangout the following day when i’m hungover. The reason being when i’m hungover i want to EAT! and Electrik do an AMAZING sunday dinner.
We went in to Electrik wanting the Sunday dinner share board and almost ordered just 2 normal Sunday dinners. This isnt their fault. i stopped reading past the word ‘Sunday dinner’ and assumed they all came on a board. They don’t. So there’s my tip, actually read the menu. Turns out the food we would have received would have been exactly the same, but one came on a board and one didn’t. Lucky for us our error was spotted by them and rectified sharpish! We wanted a board, we got a board!
The whole thing was blimmin delicious. (see my photo and very happy face)

I genuinely love this place. I’ve been drinking there for years and get on with the bar staff. there’s a top choice of drinks, at chorlton prices, and the food is great. The Jukebox here is legendary and the crowd is not too pretentious. Love it. We’re talking beautiful décor, a relaxed atmosphere and general good times vibes. Beer garden out the back is a sun trap in the summer!

Offers a wide selection of drinks — changing ales to well made cocktails.
Cool and professional crowd yet unpretentious. Always busy on the weekends — if you want to sit down arrive early. Always putting on events — I’ve been to the last two New Year’s Eve parties and always had a ball. They aren’t about overselling tickets — they are about creating a good time. Drinks prices also reasonable and two albeit small beer gardens for the summer nights.

Electrik’s décor has a slightly «temporary, we’re still working on this» feel and could therefore do with refining but other features, such as the delicious glass of white wine I had (sauvignon blanc), and the tiny fluffy white dog permitted to be inside the bar looking ridiculously cute, were pleasing. It’s near the tram stop so is a good place to gather if you’re headed for a night out in the area with a group coming from diverse directions.

Electrik is a staple of the Chorlton bar scene, no doubt. I’ve not been a Mancunian that long (my 5^th anniversary is just recent) but I’ve always known Electrik to be here. First time I went, the concept of fresh quality sausage and mash or quality meat pies and good real ales just wone me over (I am French before someone gets all worked up).
The vibe is pretty cool, you can often see a bunch of hippy-​like, lad back creature playing all sorts of vinyls on Sunday afternoons, the beer selection has always been very good, even before the so-​called Craft Beer revolution. The food is great and affordable. What else can I say it’s a great place to go and if you don’t manage to have a good time there you need to get a reality check my friend ;-)

Located very close to Chorlton Tram Station is this charming café where you can find the most gorgeous strawberry and white chocolate cake. My coffee snob friend said that he absolutely adores the coffee here because of the great beans they use (says a lot). I had a flat white without syrup (I need caramel in my drink) and to my surprise I actually liked it! The décor inside is very chilled out and warm with comfortable couches with an artsy feel. The waiters were very friendly as well, happily chatting about things on the menu. There is an outdoor seating area as well which is perfect for soaking up the rare sunshine we get in Manchester. But when the sun sets this place takes a complete different turn and transforms into a buzzing pub and it seems like they have a good range of DJ’s playing here as well. The crowd is mostly young professionals so you are not expecting any kind of brawls here (phew).
Verdict: Definitely going back again when I am in the hood!

My last review of a Electrik was a little ‘down’ I suppose, and so after having gone again felt I need to update at least a little.
The Star rating doesn’t change for me, I went on a far busier night and yes it certainly did add atmosphere to the place made it feel a more pleasant place to be, but I just can’t put my finger on what it is I’m not sold on the place.
Beer was still all great

Had some lazy Sunday afternoon time in here reading the papers and sipping on a decent coffee. I really liked the décor, stylish but simple, stripped wood. exposed lightbulbs, a good combination of colours, art on the walls, and a nice, slightly random collection of furniture. The staff were relaxed and friendly. While I didn’t eat, I was rather envious of the food that arrived at the table next to mine based on the scent that wafted over my way! Wide range of ales on tap which is always good to see. I’m sure this place is pretty lively at night, hopefully it doesn’t develop one of those pretentious edges cool bars like this can. The afternoon crowd were a mixed, relaxed bunch, all fairly down-​to-​earth so fingers crossed. Also, not a bad tune was played while I was there which is always a plus. Well, what I would class as a bad tune anyway, who knows what the rest of you would think. Oh, and there’s a jukebox! Presumably it was in charge of the decent and varied tunes I heard. If so, it did a good job!
Oh and free wifi, didn’t see any sockets near me but I’m sure there are some around!
I’ll have to go back to be able to say more about about the place but by all appearances, it’s a good ‘un, c*

Only trouble with this place is; its too conducive to returning home later, with less money, and a bigger hangover pending than is sensible for a Chorltonite bloke of my age who is nostalgic about Dry201 and averse to taxis.

Musically irreprehensible.

I’m generally not a huge fan of establishments which use a ‘k’ where a ‘c’ would suffice… Krunchy Fried Chicken springs to mind. However, I gave Electrik the benefit of the doubt as I thought the word may be Danish for electric, and the bar is supposedly Danish-​inspired. After just looking this up on an online translator it turns out it is not Danish at all, but it’s too late — I already like Electrik.
Whether or not this self-​proclaimed ‘publicsocialhousecafebar’ lives up to Justin and Luke’s other venues/​nights is for me irrelevant. This bar used to be called Revise and was empty on every night of the week including weekends. Electrik is busy every night of the week and heaving at the weekends. The place does have a European feel about it and is proof that us Brits can drink outside without being drunken yobs. I get a feeling that this place will be packed in the summer, as the drinkers often spill out onto the street at this time of year. When it’s not raining the large patio doors which lead to the outdoor area at the front are open making the bar an airier option than Dulcimer, which is found just two doors down.
I like the wooden chalet feel to the place, the quiz night is a good night, the drinks are averagely priced for Chorlton and where else can you find a FREE jukebox?

The latest venture from the deejays & club promoters behind the Electric Chair and Homo Electrik, Electrik is a cute café bar cum pub. There’s comfy leather sofas, wooden tables and chairs, ambient lighting and a fab jukebox which has been stocked with cool compilations by some of their favourite artists and deejays. They serve sweet cakes, flapjacks and great sounding cocktails and beers.
The problem is, Electrik obviously need a better menu or at least a bigger menu with tastier food. We popped in for brunch and there was only two options available: sausage and mash or eggs benedict /​eggs florentine. Since one of us is veggie and doesn’t eat eggs and the other is dairy intolerant this left us with the option of coffee, tea and flapjacks! Suffice to say, we managed to peel ourselves off the comfy seats and shuffle a few doors up the street to The Bar.
